Sant'Eufemia is a small early-christian basilica in Grado's old town. It is very beautiful and definitely one to visit when in Grado.

The lungomare in Grado is one of the best one I've seen: it's wide, flat, well kept and has wonderful views. It could be an idea spot for walking and running - but be careful about the time of the day in summer, it can get very hot and there is hardly any shade!

Also dating to the 6th century like the neighboring Basilica, it has an empty yet beautiful interior with roman columns and floor mosaic.

The first sight visitors get of Grado is its shiny lagoon. The town with its palaces, houses, pavements and harbour seems to be part of the waters lightness. The massive stones of churches reflect the inner strength of Grado citizens, mountains are not very far, but there is a gentleness an easy way to meet foreigners, which, again, seems inspired by the rhythm of waves lapping its beaches.

This excellent early-christian baptistry is in the heart of Grado's old town, right next to the basilica of Saint Eufemia, and the entrance is free. I really recommend visiting it, as well as the lapidarium surrounding it.

I found that the way the ruins were preserved and made available to the public to view, without disrupting people's use of the square was very impressive. It is also a great reminder of the importance of Grado and surrounding areas towards the end of the Roman empire.

A clean and well kept beach with small waves and a view of the Alps. The water here is deeper and cleaner than on other Grado beaches so you can actually swim here and there are not as many algae in the water. Most of the beach area is paid, it costs about 20 euro to reserve a sundeck and it is easy to make a reservation online. There is also a bar with a good choice of drinks and salads. After 19:00 access is free but the swimming is at your own risk. Beware that I saw one big jellyfish on the shore so take care and watch out when swimming.

Nice place to go to get some fresh air in the evening, a must after dinner, better if eating an ice cream.

At the end of our stay in Grado my hubby's eye glasses broke on the beach. We needed information very fast about where could we fix them. Personnel at the info point were very helpful, they gave us indications, a map and even made a call to check if the "Ottica" was still open because lunch time was approaching and usually all stores and cabinets close during that time. We managed to resolve our problem successfully.

You cannot use a shelter for 6-month old baby on this beach .. They insist on using their umbrella only, but staff is not able to understand that baby must be protected from the sun even from the wind.
