I would like to say a huge thank you to all the wonderful staff who made my father’s 80th birthday such a memorable experience. He is a Haddo baby and it was very moving being taken around the rooms and being told the history of such precious babies born in this magnificent house. The birthday party was made more special by the contribution of the staff involved in organising the event which included a delicious soup and sandwiches. They really couldn’t have done a better job.!!! A 5 star experience that will be such a special memory for us all, especially our father, Raymond. Thank you, thank you, thank you!!!!

Duff House is a hidden gem in Banff, and you must visit.
The house has a very interesting history and is jam packed full of fabulous paintings. There's also furniture, artifacts and some amusing crockery on the dining table.
Staff are very knowledgeable and informative.
I was there on Sunday afternoon when the house comes to life with a pianist performing a recital which can be heard throughout the whole house.

We have been visiting the beautiful country park here for more than twenty years. It is lovely all year round with lots to see and it's especially good fun for families with younger children. The NTS café is very good as is Mrs Smith's. We often take along birdseed and sometimes the birds in the sensory garden might feed from your hand. There are lots of paths to take and we love to walk around the lake. However, today was the first time we took a tour of the House and it was amazing! Charlie, our guide, gave us so much fascinating information about the house and the family over the years and I know she had a lot more to tell, so I am definitely tempted to go back for another tour!

Rugged terrain to hike out to the coast, but great when you get there. Rocky outcrops to climb, very quiet and peaceful. Great coastal cliff top walk

The view is spectacular! The tower is a bit gloomy and smelly - swallows nest in it - but the steps are sound, as is the chain handrail. Definitely worth climbing. The car park I think has vanished under the new houses on the right hand side, but I parked in the track entrance on the tower side, leaving enough room for a combine. The track forks after a bit and the tower looks as if the right hand fork is the correct one. Wrong! The left hand track that follows the hedge line is the "official" one

The excellent GAC golf day in picturesque surroundings was finished off with dinner excellent food provided by Gidi Grill.
Efficiently catered , the food was excellent.. The fish cane with a nice coating of batter.
    Chips were excellent.
The dessert was an ample wedge of Lemon Cheesecake... Tasty. But the accompanying cream came with a bitter taste which was a surprise to the pallet.
The clubhouse has been revamped and the views are sensational.

No longer listed by Google Maps as it is a private residence though the grounds are open to the public. This amounts to walking along a long drive to the edge of the "castle" car park. Any further and you risk upsetting the residents. Not a large castle and not realistic looking due to the windows having been replaced with modern white PVC frames.

A bit of a morbid attraction this is. So back in the days, it was necessary to protect the newly deceased from body-snatchers, resurrectionists or just general oddness, by locking up the bodies until they were no longer in a suitable state for base activities. The building is now locked, but there is an information board at the site where you can learn all about this antique practice.

What a wonderful visit, passing through the charming village of Tarves we spotted the Heritage Centre and decided to stop.
We were greeted by friendly volunteers who gave us the background to the centre and a quick overview of the place. We were then free to wonder around looking at a great array of artefacts and pictures from years gone by. That this place is run by volunteers is a credit to the village and I would recommend anyone to take the detour and visit, you won't be disappointed.

Lovely staff, a welcome, warm and pleasant environment, great selection of books and resources, local studies library a highlight. Aberdeenshire has one of best librray services in the country. Long may it continue that way!

Take the time to walk along the river and look at the old bridge. You will see ducks and the water flow is nice. Public toilets in the car park and parking cost is cheap.
