A wonderful Cathedral guided tour. Very informative and historically significant.

A big thank you to Margret Potter for her excellent insights and knowledge.

This is quite amazing. Only £5 to do the guided tour, only way you can see it. When you get your ticket, make sure you see the exhibitions and get to the library too. Absolutely enthralling.

Lovely farm day out. Excellent animals who look happy and it is reasonably priced to get in. Loved the tractor ride and the food was reasonably priced too. Could spend as little or as long as you want here. Plenty to do, see and play on! It’s a must visit if in the local area – I have been several times this year with various young family and friends and also without a couple of times too!

We have never been here before and we were very surprised by the extent of, variety of and quality of the gardens. Even now there is plenty of colour. There is parking and a very pleasant basic cafe. The gardens are a mere 10 minute stroll from the Market Place. Allow an hour here.

I visited here to expand my knowledge of the world. There's lots of historic information about the Oriental region and surrounding SE Asia. When I visited there was also an Egyptian exhibition. This was good with information and artifacts. The museum is at the University where it is away from the city centre. Car parking is limited however there is regular buses from the city. I definitely recommend visiting here.

One of our favourite pastimes when visiting Durham is to stroll along the river. I usually favour the bank opposite the Cathedral as you get better views but this time we stayed on the same bank.

We walked around the green to access the cathedral but also to admire the castle and other buildings on the edge of the green including the excellent museum.

Visited the botanic gardens on a Sunday afternoon. The gardens are beautiful and a really nice and calm place to have a walk. Durham uni students get in for free.

I had a wonderful walk on Blackhall Beach this afternoon .
A huge, clean beach. Hardly anyone about .
Easy free parking, nice paths down onto the beach . No litter .
Signs of the coal heritage of the beach .

Very good for dramatic photo opportunities.

    Great for Labrador’s

This is an absolutely fabulous place, beautiful Pugin architecture, lots and lots to see, no unnecessary resrictions on access.
My only negative is that the restaurant doesn't have vegan food options, which meant we needed to cut shot our visit. Would have stayed longer if we could have had lunch.

Came just before Xmas. First time I’ve ever ever seen snow right up to the sea. It’s a cute little walk, nice shops and eateries

For someone who looked at stars but knew very little about the night sky, I was absolutely entranced.

Wonderful pantomime visit as a volunteer with local primary school. We had front seats to enjoy the slick, atmospheric ans well acted performance of Sleeping Beauty with a modern twist . The children were entirely captivated and interacted with the action on stage, particularly with the fabulous 'dog' Sammy who created a special rapport with the youngsters which was a joy to behold!

As a very mature adult myself I could enter into the magic created on stage .

Congratulations to all the cast on a fantastic performance: the best yet in my opinion.

Great tour around the castle earlier this year (2022), then once we knew about it we went to their Summer event - a three day long craft fair. We are going to support it again in November - highly recommended for a tour, craft fair or a visit to the cafe in the gatehouse which is run by one of the family.

Plenty to see and read if you are inclined although only small exhibitions. The World Heritage section and the visitor centre and museum are all in one building now so you can dip into a bit of each if you like. All free to enter and look at.

No rush or obligation, but help available if you wanted it, which was nice.
