We walked to this church and dropping our stuff at the hotel. Really lovely. You can go inside and light a candle (at a cost). Man inside playing the organ. A must see when in Iceland.

A really architecturally cool glass building, built in a honeycomb pattern.
It sits proudly overlooking Reykjavik Harbour.

It's free to enter and wander around to appreciate the design and take in the harbour views. There is a cafe and restaurant too to enjoy.

This is a beautiful sculpture by the bay! We went in the morning (it's not far from downtown) and it took us about 10 minutes tops to get the pictures we wanted after waiting for others to go. Must see for sure!

A fascinating exhibition of life in years gone by. For my liking there is too much reading in each of the exhibits, but it is very cleverly done.
    A visit is recommended

We went here our first night to relax after a long day of travel. They have 3 hot tubs, 2 swimming pools and a cold bath. It was relaxing. They have showers and nice changing rooms. You do need to bring your own towel. This is a community pool where the locals go. It is not fancy, but it is clean and the water is hot.

I truly didn't know that I needed to know what a hamster's penis looks like but alas, I am now educated and glad that I do. This museum is pure fun, very informative, and unique. We enjoyed the bar and beer selections (with a certain theme of course) and then made our way through the various rooms of the exhibits. We found ourselves having a lot of fun and discussion when reading the fact plaques on each specimen. It was a unique experience for sure.

This small museum was the home of Einer Jonsson and houses a large collection of his works, particularly his fascinating sculptures. There is also a sculpture garden.

Well worth a visit, it is located very close to Hallgrimskirkja church but I suspect often overlooked because the facade facing the church is rather forbidding. I went soon after it opened on a cold and rainy day and had the place to myself; but due to the poor weather I didn't get to see the sculpture garden.

I recommend and it's so nice to go there and lau on your towel there wether it's in the sand or on the little hill which is part of the zone! The showers are good cozy and big it's really nice! :)

Great museum in a former public toilet. What better location for a punk museum there is? For me it was going back into time, since i was active in the Zuid Limburg hardcore punkscene in the early 90´s, we considered ourelves from a backwater area back than, i think Iceland considers itself like that too. Many interesting posters, video’s and objects from Icelands punkscene. With a lot of focus on KUKL the band that featured Bjork. I always loved Bjork and didn’t know anything about her past in punk. I was also surprised to see a skateboard signed by Bomer (r.i.p) from the rich kids on LSD, a band i knew well and hung out with on their Dutch tour in 1993. I just loved my visit to this tiny museum, even tough my wife who accompanied me hates punk. Really friendly guy who takes care of the museum and probably invented it, explained to my wife why icelanders like punk. My wife found him too cute to be a punk ( like she finds me too i guess). A must visit for anyone punkish or otherwise rebellious!

Whilst on the last leg of our mammoth road trip in Iceland we were gifted some wonderful weather in Reykjavik. Given we have previously visited Reykjavik a couple of times before we had seen the usual "sights" and were taking a much more relaxed approach to our time. As the sun was shining we opted to take a stroll around lake Tjornin, enjoying the warmth of the sun and embracing the local wildlife it was a lovely stroll along the waterfront with a few statues dotted along the way.

The walk around the lake only took about 30 minutes and was a lovely break away from the tourist hustle and bustle of Laugavegur.

Nice statue & while we were there poor Leif got a visit from a pigeon on his head. It is right in front of Hallgrimskirja-- so visit there too!

The Opera performs in the amazing Harpa center, which also has shops and places to eat and drink. The building is very striking, a true landmark and the theater for the Opera is also quite amazing. We saw a mini performance here.
