The botanic garden are worth a visit as well as the small zoo where you can see arctic foxes. The zoo is free for seniors. Inside the zoo is an amazing playground with rides for children.

The place looks more like a regular park with a few flowers/plants rather that a botanical garden. Having said that, if you are looking for a quiet place because you are tired of the crowds or, you just visited the city and you have some time to kill, this is a nice place. There are some trails where you can go for short walks. Also, this place has a cute bistro where you can hang out in peace without lots of people.

    How to get there ?
Rental car - we ruled that out but it would have been the best option
Taxi - I saw that I would have been around 40 bucks one way
On foot - it takes around 45 minutes
Bus (our option) - that’s the adventure. We took bus number 2 from stop next to the governor's house all the way to Vergmúli and then you walk 7 mins. You walk down the street bellow until you see a pathway on a forested area.

How to get tickets? After asking some locals, best option : get the Klapp app (do anonymous login). Choose one way ticket (4 dollars for single ticket), when you get on the bus, scan your phone. Cash is trickier because you must wear the exact amount.

Comfortable park in the middle of Reykavik. Plenty of birds nesting here, good path around the lake and through the park, flowers in the summer, and interesting sculptures on the perimeter. Everything made it an enjoyable way to enjoy a few hours.
