- John SHorsham, UK124 contributionsThis small museum was the home of Einer Jonsson and houses a large collection of his works, particularly his fascinating sculptures. There is also a sculpture garden.
Well worth a visit, it is located very close to Hallgrimskirkja church but I suspect often overlooked because the facade facing the church is rather forbidding. I went soon after it opened on a cold and rainy day and had the place to myself; but due to the poor weather I didn't get to see the sculpture garden.Written July 30, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. You do need to check ferry times as their website wasn’t overly accurate. The island has an interesting history and there are many places that will explain it. There is an art installation as well as the natural wildlife. Paths are marked out as good, ok and a little tricky. Definitely well worth a visit.Written August 13, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- WandererHolbeach, UK396 contributionsUnable to go inside, but an interesting spot to see if on a walking tour, would not say that you have to head out of your eay to see it unless you have a particular interest in the cold war.Written November 15, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - matthewmcneil90Lincoln, UK65 contributionsWeird to visit a cemetery but very beautiful, felt more in touch with nature given that it’s so well populated with trees. Very peaceful space to walk.Written October 24, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- cllsrrEllsworth, ME118 contributionsWe were lucky enough to meet the Director of this interesting and culturally significant center. Our group all agreed that we have never met anyone more passionate about keeping the true Icelandic culture alive and well. This is worth a visit if your in Reykjavík.Written March 31, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- bskramerThe Villages, FL320 contributionsDue to some changes in our travel scheduled that required us to stay near Reyjavik longer than we expected, we had the opportunity to visit the home of the President of Iceland. We were impressed by the ideal setting along the coast and enjoyed the ride there. We visited in the morning and were the only tourists visiting. Even though it was windy, we took very scenic photographs of the church and ceremonial buildings. Only a chain and sign indicated the boundary for tourists. At the time we visited, there was only one police car parked at the home. It is a beautiful serene setting that reminded us of how a civilized world should operate. We spent about 30 minutes here before departing. Since this is an easy stop in or out of Reykjavik, it is well worth a 45-minute stop.Written June 2, 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Volpesce12 contributionsIt was an interesting Viking farm to visit. But only 1 farm to explore.
That being said, it was very expensive. For a family of 4 people €60, with student discount. Iceland is expensive that is true, but prices like this for something you can visit in max 30 minutes is really no fun.Written July 26, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. The house is small and is really 3 rooms. The painter left hundreds of painting to the country of Iceland and they are on display in several museums. The theme of the paintings in the home related to trolls. Great way to spend 30 minutes if you have the free entrance ticket.Written July 19, 2021This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC.
