We went with our great guide John Ionut on a day tour from Reykjavik, visiting Thingvellir N.P, Gulfoss waterfall, Geysir and some extra stops and lookouts such as the ice-cream farm (you must try at least 2 scoops, never tasted better ice-cream than here), the Iceland horses and with a last (extra) stop at Hveradalir, the first steam bath facility ever in Iceland, nowadays consisting of some left over buildings and facilities, a number of fumaroles, bubbling mud pools and grey water stream/pool, all along a short explanatory walking path!
Hveradalir is a kind of "sentinel site", totally unpretentious and one would pass by if one would not be alert, but in fact it is the birthplace of modern spa tourism in Iceland, for which was predicted in a 1938 newspaper article that Iceland could become one day a spa resort for tourists! How true this prediction has been!
John did a great job, on the one hand providing a lot of useful information during the trip and giving sufficient time for each to do one's self exploratory activities at each stop as well as bringing over his enthusiasm and passion for this beautiful country!
I would love to book a multi day tour in the future and will keep Troll definitely in mind for my future travels as this one day trip was for me like an oasis. Getting in touch again with all the beautiful Iceland has to offer, the 1 day trip felt like a multi day trip, providing me with a variety of beautiful moments, experiences, images and short videos for which you can find some attached! Having been a former tour guide myself in Iceland, I visited a number of places I was familiar with from the past, but it was very entertaining and I had a great experience!.
Great thanks, John and Troll for all that and hope to see you back soon!
Kind regards, Paul Duijzings, Switzerland
