What travelers are saying
- JariJKKouvola, Finland6,853 contributionsHaihara Art Centre is open in summer. You may visit art exhibitions in the old manor house (from the 1870's) without any admission fee. They claimed that also a ghost named Blue Maid wanders around the rooms of the manor. She is said to be a former servant of the house. There may even be several ghosts there. Believe it or not.
The nice summer cafeteria named Kahvikamari is located in the old workers' house which was built in 1811. You may also visit Runeberg Cottage which was named after Johan Ludvig Runeberg, the national poet of Finland. He spent the summer 1834 there. There are also several other interesting and historical buildings on the area of Haihara Manor, e.g. an old windmill.
This place is quite earthy and countrified, not very elegant. However, we loved the milieu with art, historical buildings, nice vegetation (e.g. a birch alley from the manor to the beach) and the summer cafeteria.
The beach of the manor isn't very good for swimming. There is a better public beach very near the mansion. So if you want to swim, I recommend that you go to Riihiniemi Beach (Kaukajärvi, address Järvikatu 14).Written August 26, 2015This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. We very much enjoyed the exhibition of young nordic photographers which was on when we visited.Written November 11, 2018This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Fudge03Sussex, England1,176 contributionsWe went there to see the current retrospective of Marra Lampi's work, which is very well served by the gallery's 3 spaces. In addition, it has the tiniest gallery shop I've ever seen! - MC0777Oulu, Finland6,841 contributionsThis is a nice gallery having different changing art exhibitions almost every month. The gallery is run by AvaraTaide Association. (Avara = The spacious; Taide = Art). The aims of this Association is to revitalize and expand the art offerings in Tampere and its surrounding area. There is no coffee shop in the gallery, but there are several cafeterias and restaurants around the place.Written August 16, 2015This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - MC0777Oulu, Finland6,841 contributionsGalleries in Tampere are very close to each other, so you should give them a little time and rotate through them all at the same time.
Gallery Rajatila concentrates to display contemporary art and artists.
They have quite experimental exhibitions, also video art.
The gallery is in two floors and consists of two separate exhibition spaces. They have a little book shop.Written October 29, 2016This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. It's a nice small art gallery just next to photography art gallery Nykyaika.Written April 23, 2016This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC.
