This sauna is small and does not have fancy cooling pool nor showers. But, this is my best authentic sauna not only in Finland but also in the world. Local regular saunners of this sauna really have love and respect to this sauna and its community. I did not know Finns talk a lot in sauna and the outside cooling place. They are quite friendly and supportive even to a foreigner. This community based sauna proves saunas can be the third place for locals to improve their wellbeing. Beware of the hot temperature after loyly.

If you're looking for a place to unwind and enjoy nature's beauty as the backdrop to your sauna experience, I suggest visiting Kaupinojan Sauna. This sauna is located in a gorgeous shores of Lake Näsijärvi. Visitors can enjoy the cozy heat from by the wood-burning stove and take a dip in the freezing yet refreshing lake to cool off.

The Finnish speciality -barrel sauna- is to be experienced at least once in the lifetime! Wood heated, no showers, but the lake is right there. So summer and winter, enjoy the refreshing dip in the lake. Dressing room in a separate building. If you want a private visit, contact the sauna in beforehand tohlopin.uimaseura@gmail.com.

Take a bus to Lentävänniemi and walk to the Suomensaaren sauna. Hot sauna and cold lake ensure a memorable experience! Take your own water botlle of drinking water, because in the sauna they use only lakewater, which is not recommended for drinking (but leaves your skin and hair so soft!)

In the summer the experience is surely different with midnight sun, but in the winter it is surely refreshing :-)

Pre-booking needed. Idyllic sauna by a small Suolijärvi lake in Hervanta offers a true live-like-a-local experience. No showers, dressing rooms in a separate building. You can take the tram to Hervanta Campus and walk about 1 kilometer to get here.

My mom and I traveled to Finland to trace our ancestry, so of course we felt that having an authentic sauna experience was a must! Matti & Juha with Saunakonkeli made our day feel effortless. When we reflected on our entire trip, we agreed that it was our sauna tour day that was the highlight, specifically our time at Saunatemppeli, the silent sauna in a yurt. It is dimly lit inside and there is no talking allowed. My mom said she felt like time stood still and the experience could have taken place at any point in history. Located right on the water, it was so very relaxing and special. It was also really convenient that it was close to another public sauna whose locker rooms and showers were available for our use. Honestly, this sauna was far superior to the other saunas we visited in terms of the atmosphere, loyly, even the smell of the stove! We wished that we had more time there. We really appreciated all of the information Matti shared with us throughout the day, in and out of the sauna. It gave us a deeper understanding of Finnish people and their culture, as well as connecting us to our own roots. We highly recommend any experience with these guides and cannot wait to return! Thank you so much!

Just for the look of it it's worth visiting! Built from massive logs, right by the lake in idyllic setting this sauna is The Sauna. Public sauna is open couple of times a month, so check the times from their website. You can bring your own drinks or by beverages and snacks from Niemi-Kapee.

No public transport available all the way, so you'll need a car or a boat to get here.

    I love this place.

It's feels so retro and real authentic gym in Tampere. Since 1982 they said. That's a long time.

You can train with locals and only 7 eur one time fee. Great place to be especially on a rainy day ;)
