- Mikael FHelsinki, Finland31,125 contributionsThis shopping center has got a facelift after our last visit years ago. It felt now much more modern.
We were staying in the Ilves Hotel next to it. Now we needed a pharmacy and it was easy to find from here.

Nice weather is needed althought there is a sunroof for cover. One can take a day or evening boat cruise with dinner if that is your thing. There is also rather new place called Kuuma (hot) with restaurant and Sauna with swimming in a river-pool.
The name of Laukontori comes from a manor of Laukko where the foods were brought the be sold at the market in the city.Written July 6, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. You may visit art exhibitions in the old manor house (from the 1870's) without any admission fee. They claimed that also a ghost named Blue Maid wanders around the rooms of the manor. She is said to be a former servant of the house. There may even be several ghosts there. Believe it or not.
The nice summer cafeteria named Kahvikamari is located in the old workers' house which was built in 1811. You may also visit Runeberg Cottage which was named after Johan Ludvig Runeberg, the national poet of Finland. He spent the summer 1834 there. There are also several other interesting and historical buildings on the area of Haihara Manor, e.g. an old windmill.
This place is quite earthy and countrified, not very elegant. However, we loved the milieu with art, historical buildings, nice vegetation (e.g. a birch alley from the manor to the beach) and the summer cafeteria.
The beach of the manor isn't very good for swimming. There is a better public beach very near the mansion. So if you want to swim, I recommend that you go to Riihiniemi Beach (Kaukajärvi, address Järvikatu 14).Written August 26, 2015This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Fudge03Sussex, England1,172 contributionsWe went there to see the current retrospective of Marra Lampi's work, which is very well served by the gallery's 3 spaces. - B KGurugram (Gurgaon), India186 contributionsHameenKatu seems like the main arterial road .Whichever destination we visited , the streets always took us back to this main road. Shops , shopping centres , supermarkets, cafes and kiosks are lined up on both the sides and there are seating areas or benches at many places.Tampere Train Station is located at one end.The Bus station also located on it. The ambience is lively and it's a pleasure to stroll through. Somewhere along its length it goes over the rapid - Tammerkoski and there's a beautiful green area called Koskipuisto on the side. We stayed at a place that was 5 min walk to this road and it was an advantage.Written July 8, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC.
