What travelers are saying
- paulbusse2007San Diego, CA15 contributionsclean, powerful, beach. the nearby powerplant adds a few degrees to the water temp, but this beach gets the Euro blue star or whatever they call it for being a top notch clean great beach.Written November 5, 2019This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - P J TravellerKongsberg, Norway35 contributionsThis is the only reason many people flock to Sines. The birthplace of Vasco Da Gama- the traveller. The fort where his father worked and probably where Gama was born. His statue looks majestic since it’s sea-facing in the old city at a height.
There is plenty of parking (at least in winter) as well as eateries. After lots of tours in Algarve and Lisbon, this is a nice place for relaxing. Just roam around the old narrow city streets and look at the vast ocean.Written December 22, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Good for swimming. And Vasco da Gama is watching you from the hill 😀.Written August 26, 2018This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Andrew B3 contributionsHoused in the birth home of Vasco de Gama, this collection of local history telling the story of Sines is fascinating, and well worth a visit.Written June 25, 2019This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - ronaldsoleLoule, Portugal99 contributionsThe art gallery is housed in the basement of twin stone-clad buildings that also house the city library and cater for performance arts. Although the buildings stand impressively against the horizon, many of the lower fascia slabs are in need of repair.
Entrance to the gallery is through the library, whose staff were exceptionally helpful. The gallery halls are spacious and attractive. I confess that the conceptual art on display in October 2015 did not appeal to us. But the washrooms were superb.Written October 16, 2015This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Enjoy narrow streets, views from the fort towards the bay and curvy roads which will take you to the Beach.Written June 17, 2020This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - ElkeGibraltar67 contributionsThere was so much I loved about this beach...
It is a fail-safe place to get to, the parking is right next to the beach and there is a small sandy slope to get down. Maybe a bit tedious if travelling with a family but not impossible (seen one picture).
The views are immense, I kept trying to take pics of it all but i feel i wasn’t capturing what my eyes were seeing: the endlessness of the beach, the waves, the sand... it was so beautiful.
The sand is pebble-like and different to anything we’d seen in Portugal so far.
We lay down next to the shore and all you could hear were the waves, honestly it was one of our fave moments; absolute bliss.
We were lucky and got perfect weather but perhaps it’s a beach that won’t be as nice on a windy day. Suggestion would be to check the weather before heading there and take snacks! The restaurant there was closed and there is nothing close by.
10/10 (not even the pictures do it justice).Written September 15, 2020This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
