- AriyyaKuwait City, Kuwait389 contributionsThis place deserves a stop if you are nearby. The views are stunning. There are also different wine makers that offer wine tasting tours here. Definitely a must-visit to see this unique, terraced vineyard.Written September 2, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Inside there is a restaurant with the name '1584', which is the year, when this wine press and meeting point for the local vintners was first mentioned. At the end of the 18th century the building was renewed and expanded, as is explained on a nearby information board.
It is only a few years ago that the 'Trotte' was restored and opened as a restaurant. Also a wine is made here, which too bears the name '1584'. To be called a 'mountain wine press' is slightly exaggerated, especially for Switzerland, but here in the northern canton of Schaffhausen the 'mountains' are more like hills, for me an area, where I always enjoy going for not so strenuous hikes early or late in the year.
There are several hiking paths passing by the 'Trotte', even an 'Erlebnisweg Bergtrotte' out of the lovely village of Osterfingen, but there is also a 'Blauburgunderpfad', going past vineyards in this southern part of Schaffhausen, called Klettgau. I especially appreciate that the small country roads here are not paved as in many other parts of Switzerland. This can be explained with the fact that we are here in the northern foothills of the Jura mountain range with its dry limestone soil.Written March 13, 2021This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. One can purchase cheeses, yogurts, quark locally made to take away.
You can also treat yourself to a sit down and enjoy a delicious meal followed by a picturesque walk down to town through the forest - Eichornweg.
Truly a must stop for all those seeking authenticity and quality.

- Shch25562 contributionsCame here with my mom, sisters and husband in May for a Friday night wine tasting and had the best experience! The wine tasting room has beautiful views and spacious family style communal seating. The owners and host of the wine tasting were wonderful at letting us try all their delicious wines and making us feel welcome (they spoke English well). They also had bread and cheese available for the tasting. We ended up staying way past the wine tasting closing time and walked away with lots of great wine! Their oeil de perdrix (rose), Pinot noir (charlotte) and Marc were our favorites of the night. I also loved the pur sang Pinot noir!! I would highly recommend going there for a wine tasting - you may want to call beforehand to let them know you're coming.Written October 28, 2017This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - ZubkowZurich, Switzerland211 contributionsOerlikon Market, which is held Wednesdays (6.30 to 11.00) and Saturdays (6.30 to 12.00), is really worth a visit. There are many different kinds of stalls ranging from vegetable growers, fishermen, butcher, baker and florists to fine food mongers. All the colours and smells combined with the bustle of people conjures up a very special atmosphere. You may well find vegetables that you didn't know existed - just ask and you'll be given an explanation and a selection of recipes for the plant in question.
You had best not come by car, parking is quite expensive and parking space rare in the surrounding area (and because of the market there usually is a congestion...). It's only two minutes from Oerlikon train station.Written September 5, 2018This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - 977mikeDublin, Ireland998 contributionsWas nicely welcomed by Hector who arranged a space at the exceedingly busy bar counter the only place to be for the solo traveller where one is assured a most sociable evening with quality postprandial digestifs accompanied by their very delicious Japanese crackers - the way to go.Written December 17, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC.
