- Laura TMiddlesbrough, UK7,002 contributionsThis is a lovely beach for swimming and sunbathing with soft sand and clear blue water. The top end of the beach is black sand which made for stunning photos with the blue sky, whereas the sand was more traditional golden yellow at the more touristy southern parts near all the (expensive) restaurants.
We were very surprised that all of the restaurants here are so pricey! We had a lovely meal at Acanto (reviewed separately) but there are many more food options (and a lot more varied choice too!) just a short walk up the coast at Fañabé Beach.
We arrived at Duque Beach lunchtime after a busy morning. We had an explore and lunch, before walking from the top of Duque Beach all the way along the coastal promenade to Fañabé Beach, which took maybe 30 minutes on a gentle stroll. A lovely walkway along the coast with wide flat paths so very pram/wheelchair accessible.
Highly recommend Altamira for smoothies / cocktails by the sea at the top end of the beach (reviewed separately).
We didn't stay to relax on the beach but it looked beautiful as we walked past; spacious so plenty of areas where it was not too crowded and soft sand / clear water. If we had had more time we would definitely have returned for a beach day.Written February 6, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. This is a man made beach with lovely white sand , and as it has a breakwater the sea is protected and very calm. The sand goes a long way into the water and you have to walk a fair way to get into the sea , but made it perfect for kids so their were many families there. The facilities are great : a large car park a short walk away, toilets, showers , sunloungers and sun beds all along the beach and a wide selection of cabins offering a large choice of drinks and snacks. Lovely views from the beach inland towards the hills. As it was Feb the water was a bit cold but one of our party did brave a swimWritten March 3, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tide comes in fast compared to beach of los Cristiano's . Not ideal with kid's or bad swimmersWritten February 10, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- Tony_greenshieldsBirmingham, UK30 contributionsLovely beach with soft black sand, it's a bit of a treck to get to on foot, but you can get a cab from Port del la Cruz or hire a car and drive down the single winding track to a resturant above with a 3 euro car park. It's well worth a visit but it's a long was down a lot of steep steps so it's not for the physically challenged.Written November 5, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Liz PDenbighshire, UK16 contributionsVisited here with my sister. We stayed in San Isidro and went to El Medano beach for the day. - Matthew R14 contributionsA nice area of Tenerife. Weather is generally good. Beach is really nice though the sea was often too rough to swim. The lifeguards can be extremely rude and aggressive so be warned.
Restaurants behind the beach were ok. We particularly like Pepi Vintage Italian - the pizzas we're really good. Also Restaurante Palillos De Oro had nice Chinese and sushi.
Did a whale watching trip from Los Gigantes. The trip was good but there weren't many whales.Written December 20, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. I felt very safe swimming. One tip is use a tow float and stay well out.i.e. Near the reefs. Also when finishing get out at either end as the waves are lee powerfulWritten February 29, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Jan DanilssonUppsala, Sweden4 contributionsOne of the best beaches in Tenerife. The road views itself worth the travel time. There is a strong rip current in the far right side of the beach, take serious caution.Written March 16, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Christine RCornwall, UK6 contributionsIt wasn't obvious where to hire the sunbeds and umbrella from, but we did find a large area in the shade at the far end of the beach and it was also the best place to swim as it was less wavey.
There's free toilets and changing room, which was really useful and reasonably clean.Written February 5, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Loads of free parking a 10 minute walk away.
There are sun beds and parasols for hire to the left. Although no shops etc nearby there was a guy selling water and juice from an icebox.
The beach next door (even more windy) was nice for a walk to see the kite surfers, loads of them which was fun to watch!Written February 13, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. A restaurant , nice, quite expensive and a bit slow service. In March, bring a jacket.Written March 5, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC.
