We had the most incredible time on the Whale Watching Eco-Adventure with John this morning. He is unbelievably knowledgable, passionate, and welcoming, but more importantly, he was respectful, patient and kind to the marine life. His knowledge and resect for the animals paid off, with multiple sightings of Pilot Whale pods, including nursery groups of mothers and their tiny calves, which was incredible to see. He did not chase the whales, and we were able to observe from a reasonable distance with the boat engine turned off, for the whales to move around, undisturbed, as they pleased. At one point, the whales approached the boat, swimming underneath us (of their own accord) which gave us an incredible, non-intrusive opportunity to see the whales up close. He also used a hydrophone, which enabled us to hear the Pilot Whales communicating. There was a reasonable swell and it was fairly choppy at points, but John handled the conditions with ease, frequently checking in to see if we were happy and comfortable. John stopped at one point to scoop a plastic bag out of the water, to prevent turtles confusing it for jelly fish. I cannot rate this trip highly enough, and we will certainly be going out with John again in the future. Thank you John!
