A great little market where you can try and buy local produce. Worth the visit if you're in Santa Cruz. Plenty of photo opportunities.

The old town of San Cristobal la Laguna is nice to walk around, and has many shops, cafes and restaurants. However it didn’t blow our minds in any way, it was just nice. The best experience was to have a coffee in the cafeteria next to the catedral. Still, would recommend for a half a day trip.

We visited Santa Cruz de Tenerife off of a cruise ship. The auditorium was a 20 to 30 minute walk down the waterfront, the architecture is impressive and it has a unique design.

The Basilica of Candelaria was the first church in the Canaries dedicated to the Virgin Mary. A sacred relic is kept upstairs, above the altar - a wooden figure of the Black Madonna. The original statue was washed up into a cave where two shepherds used to put their livestock at the end of the day. It is a very interesting history and worth reading. The Virgin of Candelaria was officially declared Patroness of the Canary Islands in 1867 and canonically crowned in 1889.

The Basilica itself is the work of architect Enrique Marrero Regalado and was built in 1959. Its central tower is 45 meters high and is decorated with a magnificent Canarian balcony.

Cruise ship tour included a stop at Taganana. After negotiating the twisting roads over the mountain and avoiding head on collisions at the switchbacks we arrived at a beautiful waterfront scene. Waves were running high and there were surfers in the water. There is a path out over the water. Beware if you take it as the waves often crash over the rocks, soaking anyone on the path.

Had it not been for a tv show about Tenerife recently we’d never have thought to visit a banana plantation but we are so glad we did.

This was a great experience which casually taught us all about the history of banana cultivation in Tenerife followed by a tasting session of the produce created from bananas including marmalades, wine, snacks and bananas themselves.

Would absolutely recommend this to anyone visiting the area.

Lovely square with lots of places to eat and drink with a childrens play area in the centre and band stand for performances. There is some lovely street art round about and at night we came across some live music.

Nice little touristy thing to do, dancing fountains to music. We had a drink at a bar overlooking the fountains and sat and watched the half hour show. Enjoyable, although the drinks in the bar were very expensive.

An attractive Church in the centre of Puerto, with a pleasant little square at the rear.
Unable to look round inside other than s quick peep, as there was a Sunday service taking place.

Lovely plaza right when you exit the cruise ship terminal area, there is a large circular pond and monument. Outdoor concerts are regularly held there.

Lovely small village on the way to Mount Teide, in fact the highest village on the island . Nice to walk around with a beautiful church, lovely town square and a good choice of cafes , restaurants , gift and grocery stores. All the staff in the the local businesses were very friendly and welcoming .
In the evening it is beautifully lit with old fashioned lamps which adds to the effect.
