The site of Great St. Martin’s was on the Rheinvorstadt island in the Rhine and was built on top of warehouses and incorporated their remains.
But the sight from the Rhine promenade, with a row of colourful houses in the forefront is particularly striking and you get a good view on the apses.

Great walk across the Rhine with the bridge heavily adorned with padlocks in memory of loved ones and special events and spectacular views of the city
Add to this an awesome view to all the main big monuments both modern and old from the city plus the massive and beautiful Rhine with its ships sailing it up and down underneath the bridge.

While the site itself is just the residence (which is pretty vast by itself), the museum demonstrate a great deal of Roman era history for the area.

My twin brother Stephen and I were sat outside Brauhaus Sion in Alter Markt enjoying a beer under a heater and the views of the Town Hall were awesome.
The historic town hall is worth a visit, but as of December 2016, the site is surrounded by major infrastructure construction sites, which makes it difficult to view the building.

It is very easy to walk right past this church, however you can go inside and view it from the back of the main area.
