First of all this park was one of the most beautiful theme parks I have ever been. Much eye for details. We were there on Halloween but it was very confusing that the attractions closed at 5pm even though I had purchased a day ticket. I assumed that for the entrance fee of 49 euros per person we could stay until 10 p.m., even on the evening of the Halloween festival, but we had to buy a separate ticket for that. Very confusing and also very expensive. As for the food: Many of the same food stalls, little variety, fries everywhere. And very expensive. Very nice coasters, nice system that allowed you to see the current waiting time of the queue, although it varied, sometimes it was 20 minutes longer than advertised, sometimes it was 20 minutes shorter. It was strange that the park is so ultra-modern but with an outdated mascotte.

The New Town Hall (Neues Rathaus) rises with its beauty in the center of Lower Saxony capital just by a small pond and big Maschsee Lake.
It's the seat of Municipal government being built in the early 20c, replacing the old medieval Town Hall which is in Altstadt (old town).
Visiting is totally free except climbing the Dome. Amazing and rich in details architecture both, outside and inside.
Most interesting I found four big and precise models of Hannover over ages.
The first is from 1689 as a fortified medieval town. After that two models from 1939 and 1945 show the city before and after WWII when it was totally demolished, and finally the fourth one represents the modern and prosperous city of today.
Free to visit are also terrific mosaics on the first floor.
Climbing the Dome is paying few Euros, but problem is the waiting time (in our case over an hour) so we didn't make it.

Great fun. Boat ride was peaceful, it was great to see the animals so close. I think there were 3 large playgrounds which the kids could explore. Hours went by quickly. If I were local, I'd go there almost every other weekend!

The public transport was excellent and easy to navigate using a google map. The food was delicious and not very pricey. The people were kind and super helpful.

Unfortunately the factory tour wasn’t on when we visited but the gent at the ticket desk was super helpful in going through our options. The tower tour is definitely worth doing but the pavilions are just mini showrooms with no historic info. The classic museum on site has some absolute stunners from all manufacturers

First weekend of June had totally clear skies and above average temperatures so no wonder it was packed with people.
It's a big lake with many activities on it and around it. At the northern end just cross the road and walk to the New Town Hall by the reflecting pond.

An incredible display and history of tanks from WWI to current day. Several one-of-a-kind tanks/military vehicles. So worth the day trip from Hamburg to Munster (just 2 regional trains via Uelzen). About 1/2 the museum has been translated from German to English so Google Translate camera function will be your friend. They will be adding English audio tour soon.

This was a great insight into the zinc,Gold, lead, iron, copper and bronze mining industry and the history of the mine which closed around 1989. Lots of walking and you get to experience what it was like in the early days for the miners and how they work and the machinery they used. Do take a light jacket as it is very cool and wear appropriate shoes.

We have already visited several concentration camps, and recently we visited the camp of “Bergen Belsen”, it was erected by the Wehrmacht for “Belgian and French prisoners of war” in huts at the edge of the Bergen Military Training Area. The camp was significantly expanded in the spring of 1941. Following the German invasion of the Soviet Union, over 21,000 Soviet POWs were deported to the camp until the autumn of 1941. Between July 1941 and April 1942, 14,000 Soviet POWs died there of starvation, disease and exposure. After this in the month of April 1943, the SS took over the southern section of the camp and turned it into an “exchange camp” for Jewish prisoners. The SS decided in the spring of 1944 to also use the camp for other purposes and additional groups of prisoners. The Bergen-Belsen concentration camp got liberated on 15 April 1945, and this by British soldiers, they found thousands of unburied bodies and thousands of severely ill prisoners. A total of 52,000 prisoners from all over Europe were killed in the Bergen-Belsen concentration camp or died immediately after its liberation as a result of their imprisonment. Now the camp is a “Memorial under the name of “Anne Frank”. You have enough space to park the car, and you also can eat something in the café in the memorial, take your time (about 2 hours) to take a walk around the camp.

We found this place by accident while looking for attractions in the area to visit instead of sitting in an hour long traffic jam. We ended up not only bypassing the traffic jam but also spending 3 hours exploring the best bird park I've ever been to. It is much better even than most zoos. Fantastic set up. I was a bit jealous of the kids who got to play on the giant playground. It's the sort of playground you draw as a kid with towers as high as apartment blocks, rope nets to clamber up, huge slides etc and an icecream stand next to it. There's a toddler playground too.
There's something for everyone. The birds are just incredible, and you can feed some of them too!

The Burg, or castle, dominates the town and the area. And is well-loved as a place to have your wedding. Lovely to wander around the grounds, look into the stable with an assortment of carriages and sleds, the alchemy museum, climb the tower and marvel at the views. When in the neigborhood, definitely worth a visit!
