Very good idea. You buy a book and you just follow the signs and learn about the town in your own pace. I like it a lot

A very nice restored/preserved Abbey. Very interesting to be able to visit the site and contemplate how the community of monks would have lived.

Great historic basilica with a perfect location on top of the village. To get a full and complete experience try to attend a classic catholic mass.

The city square is a nice setting, dominated by the palais facade and framed by a half circle of stone buildings. There was a Christmas tree made up of tens of trees at the centre of the square.

The facade of this église is covered in rows of decorative (not gargoyles...can't remember the correct term...but those). Worth passing by!

A really lovely city although sad to see homeless people on the main road from the station to the centre of Dijon. However, once in the centre it is a very charming place with great historical places to visit and some nice restaurants around the city.

Lovely stop en route to Lyon .
Free parking right beside entry .
A lovely couple of hours wandering the amazing gardens & seeing the limited entry (€8 pp) rooms on the ground floor.
Very few other visitors 😀, as we arrived at midday & the entry is closed from 12:30-14:00.
The photos of the restoration project are incredible .
After our visit we walked over the road for a lovely lunch at a local restaurant in this lovely village,

The guide was very knowledgeable and spoke several languages.

The stairs are wide and easy to climb up compared to other towers in Europe.

The view from the top was good for taking photo's of the beautiful tiles rooves within the town that are difficult to take from street level. We could see for miles around the centre.

If you go when it is snowing be careful of the slippery ice on the top of the tower when walking to get your photos.

It's a short walk from the carpark to the main entrance. The normal staircase to the 1st floor is a spiral one, however if you have mobility problems the staff allow you to use a normal staircase/ The history is fascinating and one of the rooms has the enormous family trees going back a 1000 years. If you are able to climb the stairs into the roof space it is well worth the effort especially as you pass through a room jam packed with children's toys of all ages. Well worth the visit.

While in Dijon for several days we stopped in to tour on our own. Needless to say it was amazing taking in all the details of the architecture…inside and out. After taking in the beauty and learning more about the history, we also decided to return on Sunday for mass. A touching and heartwarming experience even though we don’t speak French. If in Dijon, we suggest you take the time to visit.

Beautifully renovated with amazing taste and great craftsmanship.. This impressive house is really a great experience. Our guide was amazing, telling you the story of Colette and her family. Walking around the house and the garden was a step in time and great moment. Beautiful

Great explanation of the region and local climates. We already knew a reasonable amount about the area and it’s wines but the tour was very informative. Wines presented to taste represented a good cross section of the area.

We had to wait 1.5 hours , but worth it. They are closed 12:30 till 2:00 pm. Plan for a couple of hours if the tour buses are there. Audio provided for a 22 room visit.
Virtually all the furnishings are from the time. Knew nothing about the owners so I got some history lessons.

Travelling through France for a couple of weeks, we were staying here for 2 nights in a lovely apartment in old town.
We arrived by BlaBla Bus which drops you within a 10 minute walk of the old town.
As we approached the river, we were amazed at how lovely it was with all the old buildings lining the river and park.
The old town is quite steep and has lots of cobbles.
We wandered throughout the old town for a couple of days taking in the food and a couple of bars.
The people were friendly and we thought it was definitely worth a visit.
