The guide was very knowledgeable and spoke several languages.

The stairs are wide and easy to climb up compared to other towers in Europe.

The view from the top was good for taking photo's of the beautiful tiles rooves within the town that are difficult to take from street level. We could see for miles around the centre.

If you go when it is snowing be careful of the slippery ice on the top of the tower when walking to get your photos.

The clock tower is very pretty and well conserved. The paint look fresh and the building is impressive. Compared to others, like the one on Rouen, this one has nothing to be ashamed off.

Similar bell towers in both Belgian and French Flanders are listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. However, this is not the 15th century, and Burgundy is no longer one state with Flanders. This bell tower of the XII century with a clock of the XIV century just rings, not having a high status. It seems impossible to go inside.

A viewing tower with a difference - it is excellent. Entrance fee is 2 Euros by credit/debit card only (no cash) for the token to gain entry, which converted to £1.48p including 4p fee on my credit card. The facility is first rate with a wide easy staircase set in the centre of the 'windmill' tower. Plenty of landing space to catch your breath but there is no lift for wheelchair access. The viewing platform is enclosed in glass and affords a panoramic view across the Pouilly-sur-Loire vineyards, across the River Loire to Sancerre and beyond. There is a sumptuous smell from the wooden staircase and the whole building is spotlessly clean. The ground floor has a large screen showing live feed from the rooftop showing the panorama for those unable to make the ascent. Toilet available. This was £1.48 well spent.
