I so enjoyed my short visit here. Kilgeggan is Ireland's oldest distillery, but the place feels new and fresh, despite its advanced age. The distillery entrance is well adorned and welcoming. The shop offers many souvenir opportunities, including several great Kilbeggan whiskeys. I purchased several items to enjoy during our Ireland vacation. Check them out!

Such a lovely museum. Both my 10 and 6 year old boys loved it. We went with their grandmother so it was a lovely experience to go back in time together. Charlie was so welcoming and a fabulous guide, he has a great knowledge of all the displays. Highly recommend it was a unique experience 👌

We had so much fun and never laughed as much. My son was delighted to meet one of his favourite people that happened to be there as well 😉
Class family time kids loved it and we are thinking to be back next weekend again!

Thoroughly enjoyed our visit to your Pet farm yesterday with my grandson Rowan , who held the rabbits and fed the animals and really had great fun in the playgrounds especially The Maze & the swings/slides on a sunny day , the premises looked great along with the animals.

In the shadow of the jealous wall at Belvedere House and Gardens, Mullingar is not to be beaten, anywhere in Ireland, as a venue for an outdoor Theatre Experience. The setting is perfect. Little Women by Chapterhouse Theatre Company was thoroughly enjoyable.

Fore Abbey is a 7th century abbey spread across the valley of ancient structures. The abbey complex includes several notable features, such as the remains of the Benedictine monastery, St. Feichin's church, and the famous Fore Crosses. There are several ruins to explore on this stop.

Having done the Dublin side of this route as we were visiting Mullingar we decided to do some of the Mullingar to athlone route.
It was a very enjoyable peaceful cycle. Route is free from rubbish there is several benches if you wanted to stop off and chill. Plus it was good to see bins on the route if needed.
The only down side on this side of the route there really is no coffee/tea stop points as there is on the Dublin side.

The interior of this church is very beautiful. It is worth visiting to see the columns, if nothing else. They are made of a gorgeuos green stone called Connemara marble, from an area northeast of Athlone. It's a real showcase for this unique geological material.

We visited Mollie Moo’s with children with special needs. They were so helpful and accommodating. We had lots of access to the sensory room which is a great calming space. We look forward to our next trip here with the children from our preschool.

We parked at Streamstown and cycled from there to Ballinea where the Old Rail Trail meets the Royal Canal Greenway. It was a nice smooth surface all the way. We met a lot of friendly people and had plenty of chats along the way. We are looking forward to our next outing from Moate to Streamstown. The Greenway is well signposted and parking, cafe, water fountain and toilets at Streamstown. There are a few tables along the way.
