What travelers are saying
- redecoWarren, MA9,425 contributionsWaterford was settled by the Vikings by 914 AD...and the city is rich in Medieval structures and artifacts. The Medieval Museum here is well worth a visit. Tours of the Cathedral Square site include a visit to the 13th century Choristers Hall and the 15th century wine vault...both incredible survivals. Here you can also see various charters, jewelry, carvings, and a complete set of vestments from the Medieval Period...the only surviving set that still remains in Europe.
It's a fun museum...and a great thing to do on a day when weather is inclement...

- lindaoWaterford, Ireland3 contributionsI just visited the irish wake museum with my two grandchildren aged 7 and 14 and we all had a wonderful experience. As today is halloween we were encouraged to create masks from all supplied materials while our tour guides told wonderful stories of the origins of halloween and some of its traditions. We then went into one of the original old houses which was sympathetically restored to an amazing standard. Our tour guides Cliodhna and Dermot regaled us with tales and traditions regarding life and death inside these old stone walls and we met a character called Jack who was dying from the plague. I would highly recommend this museum as all the guides are so knowledgeable and their love of history shines through the tour.Written October 31, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC.
