What travelers are saying
- CaitrionaRyanDublin, Ireland12 contributionsMyself and my partner decided to do the long 12km walk around the lakes. The walk is 99% flat and good surface. The whole walk took about 2.5 hours and we stopped in a coffee shop half way around. There is an option to take a boat back if your too tired at this stage for 10 euro per adult and 5 euro for a child. The waterfall is stunning and a must see when you are here- although going off peak times is best - early in the morning or later evening as there will be hundreds of tourists there mid day,.Written 26 May 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC.
- Andre HCape Town, South Africa353 contributionsWe were initially going to walk , parked by the restaurant , but mother nature had other ideas ,it started raining.
Took the car & were warned about the narrow roads but not about the horse karts that seemed to think they owned the road.
After a few tight turns we got to the 1st bridge , fortunately it stopped raining so we were able to get out & walk & enjoy the Gap , the waterfall in the mountains & just the natural beauty with a few sheep to add to the real country feel.
The scenery was amazing & as mentioned by other Travellers a must do as part of the Ring of Kerry or a separate trip as we did to cut the Ring of Kerry trip down. We did it on our way back from Tralee , 32km .
If possible , walk/cycle/horse kart or catch the boat & take it from there.Written 10 May 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC. - Roger924Madison, WI44 contributionsWonderful gardens with a lake and mountain view. - I-am GPhoenix, AZ84 contributionsWe booked this tour after finding it on the internet. Honestly, we weren't sure what to expect...so glad we booked it!
Truly sorry, but don't remember our bird handler's name, but he was very communicative, friendly, and provided tons of great information not he birds. We had a chance to see a hawk and 3 different types of owls in action. We each took multiple turns letting the hawk/owls land on our hands (using gloves) and taking pictures and video. It was a cold rainy morning and none of us cared because we were having a cool experience!
The birds looked extremely healthy, and it looked like the handler truly took care and bonded with these beautiful birds.
Honestly, even though it's only an hour long, it was probably one of the coolest things we did in Ireland during the holiday. Totally well worth it!
Recommendations: You meet the handler away from the city, so bring water, stay warm, and no bathrooms. He takes cash for payment.Written 17 May 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC. - CaitrionaRyanDublin, Ireland12 contributionsStaff were so friendly and the house is just gorgeous. - AudreyB971Western Ireland, Ireland97 contributionsOne would need boots for safety and warm clothes to be prepared for the Irish weather. We had hailstones and sunshine as we climbed. Beautiful views well maintained by volunteers.Written 10 April 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC.
