What travelers are saying
- amanda5805Duncan, Canada5,039 contributionsUrquhart Castle's origins can be traced back to the 13th century, with its strategic location making it a key stronghold during Scotland's turbulent history. Over the centuries, the castle witnessed numerous battles and sieges, playing a crucial role in shaping the nation's destiny.
Exploring the ruins of Urquhart Castle is a truly captivating experience. From the imposing gatehouse to the crumbling towers, each section of the castle tells a story of bygone days. The views from the castle grounds, overlooking the tranquil waters of Loch Ness, are simply breathtaking, providing a glimpse into the majestic beauty of Highlands.
The visitor centre features informative exhibits detailing the history of Urquhart Castle and its significance in Scottish history.
While wandering through the ruins, be sure to take in the stunning vistas of Loch Ness and the surrounding countryside.Written March 13, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Whichever way you want to view the loch it will not disappoint. We visited during my sons half term holiday and was brilliant will definitely come back this time of year again. - ndw78Newcastle upon Tyne, UK1,748 contributionsEasy to find the upper views. Couldn’t find the lower one. Must have taken a wrong turn and as we were running out of time. Just went back but was a lovely walk and views. There’s stairs most of the way with some rocky bits so easy enough. We were in trainers and managed no problemWritten October 30, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.

- Maree CInverness, UK98 contributionsMy friend and I are locals (Inverness) and decided to walk up this “Graham” one dry day recently. Pronounced “Mea fa Vonie” this wee mountain is shaped like a bun and the views of Loch Ness are magnificent on a clear day. As already said it is quite boggy but easy to navigate round when necessary. The last bit is quite steep and the true summit is beyond the first cairn you come to so keep going! Enjoyable day, it took us around 5 hours as we took our time. It’s around 9 miles round trip from the car park at Bunloit.Written September 16, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC.
