I visited the Linen Hall Library for the first time this week: why did I wait for so long?! This is a beautiful, atmospheric location in the very centre of Belfast that grabs at your heart as soon as you enter. For anyone who is remotely interested in literature and history, this library is a must. And the cafe is great. I ordered cream of parsnip soup that was delicious to eat in a suitably artistic environment. I will definitely return!

We were headed back to the center after lunch, and we passed this very grand old fshioned library building, a temple to learning, something we do support. Stopped to take a photo but did not go inside.

According to the poster outside, this library opened on Jan 2 1908. It's next door to the Bobby Sands mural, so you can't miss it. It's a beautiful building, over two floors, and a great amenity for the locals. Don't be afraid to go for a stroll up the Falls, and pop in here for a rest, and a read of the paper. My only complaint would be, that you need a library number, and pin code, to access the internet.

Go occasionally. Building a bit old fashioned. Rather nice. Staff friendly. Nice to spend time picking books.

Very good library-it is small but is clean and bright. Has a lift for access too which is very good-parking in the area can be difficult though-I used to use it a lot more in my student days-but is always nice to visit it again

This is our local library and is such a lovely place to visit. The staff are so welcoming and helpful. The selection of books is great and the library has all the fa facilities one would need. The children love visiting as do I. A great place to study also.

Great use of area been there lots and not for just borrowing books.

They have a wide range of talks and up in the gallery often have exhibitions.

I attended a great run of talks on the Titanic plus seen art from local artists.

Yes you can loan books but the library is more than that. Pop in sometime

Of all the East Belfast libraries I feel this one is the friendliest. I love that CS Lewis square is located so close and the statue of the wardrobe from his Narnia books. I love that they often feature CS Lewis displays. They have the computerised borrow and return system, plenty for children (they have a designated area) and a reading area for papers and the computer suite is in a separate room. There’s rhythm and rhyme running weekly and plenty of open space to work. My only criticisms would be the very limited variety in genre of fiction and the lack of parking. The main genre of fiction seems to be crime. I feel they are catering for a very specific and limited audience. There are two disabled parking spaces and a four regular spaces which are crammed into a very small space. At busy times it’s very difficult to get in and out or get turned and it’s situated beside a very busy doctors surgery car park which rarely has spaces.

I was in a rush, no membership card, staff quickly sorted it out, I was able to finish my work. Great range of books for a local library.

This library is very nice. It is kept very clean and tidy and the staff are friendly. It is quite small. There are lots of other things to do in the building to stretch out your day after the library, including a swimming pool, soft play area, and a cafe. Ideal for someone like myself with a young son

Opening hours improved after the major refurbishment, no more half day openings during the week, which always caught me out previously.
An initiative on Monday mornings runs, which provides free tea and coffee along with the obligatory biccies. There's a nice crowd of regulars as well as students nearer exams times.
Pleasingly, the new self service style machines have now been installed, some libraries in more rural areas have had them for some time now. WiFi free to members. Staff always pleasant and helpful.
