I had many happy memories of Blackpool when I visited as a child many years ago, so was looking forward to a return recently with some family members from Derby, who had booked afternoon tea at the ballroom in Blackpool Tower. The afternoon tea was wonderful with very friendly staff who were well presented, only criticism was the Wurlitzer was a little to loud so it was difficult to have a conversation. Other wise a very nice afternoon with friend staff willing to help and make the experience memorable, and the selection available for the afternoon was delightful.

However! as for Blackpool it’s self all I can say is what a depressing, dilapidated run down dump. Felt like all the drop outs and drug addicts were out in full force, with youngsters openly displaying their bags of drugs in the street. It was very sad to see so many run down hotels and guest houses boarded up. Despite the efforts to make the front look nice and the amenities available, sad to say I will not be returning and would differently not recommend Blackpool for a young family, the impression I was left with has tarnished the once happy times I spent in Blackpool.

You may not like ballroom, or organ music or high tea, but if you visit you can't help but be amazed by this room which is a one off, nothing like it anywhere else the world I think. When I visited the organist was playing and people were dancing and the sound of the organ and the skill of the organist were mesmerising.

Me and the new Mr B walk past this every day. It's a statue. Its alright. I've given it 5 stars as it does its job. I still think Ernie should be up there as Eric looks lonely. Apparently Morecambe wants a Thora Hird statue next so Ernie probably going to have to wait.

I always love the illuminations, always will. I've been coming to see the illuminations since I was a baby and now I bring my daughter who loves them too! Whilst they are looking a bit tired in places, I still find them nice to look at. There does seem to be a few missing / more gaps this year. From what I gather there's like a 10th of the workforce that look after the lights now than what there used to be so this is probably why. I don't see why the council won't employ more people / spend more money. I mean its what 99% of the people that visit between September and November come for.

We love the shepherds hut and the arrangement of the groups (we came with 2 families and our area felt private and safe) was lovely. We especially loved the wild meadow planting - saw loads of butterflies! Huts were clean and comfortable. We were a little disappointed in the wafflery - service was very very slow (1 waffle at a time served for our group of 8) and nearly half the menu items were unavailable. The heritage cafe tried the following day was brilliant. We would come again but bring more of our own stuff. Also an extra blanket or two in the huts would be great for evenings sitting out by the fire pit.

We are two not particularly fit middle-aged parents with teens but this walk was fantastic. We walked from the car park in Barley up the steps and down the slope (route clearly marked), which took about 2 hours. We were lucky enough to visit in glorious Spring sunshine on Good Friday. The area was very busy but we arrived mid/late morning and found a space in the car park (which is very cheap at £3 for the whole day*). Other cars had parked on the street - some of them very inconsiderately.

*We would recommend that the parish council increase the price, leaving them with more funds to operate/clean the toilets.

The walk up the steps is quite steep and required some pauses. The route down is a little slippy on occasion (I fell over). Walking boots are definitely recommended. A whole cross section of people were making the walk, from young to old. It was a lovely vibe. The view from the top is stunning - a complete panorama. We were able to see Blackpool Tower.

There are at least a couple of pubs in which to eat in the village; a lovely little cafe in the car park and a couple of places to grab a bite/drink on the way up.

Would definitely return if in the area.

What a great place to go. The buildings and gardens are amazing. The views from the garden walls are fantastic. If you go you must do the tour of the house. Loads of information about everything you could think of. The tour guide was brilliant.

Still looking as good as the day it went in, it must be maintained really well. It would take you weeks to read every little quote and name. A lot of the names and quotes are probably lost on todays young people though. It would maybe be good it some point if more modern names and quotes could be added around the edges at a later date?

I’ve been coming here since I was about 9 and I still love it. Huge parkland area, walks, garden centre, brilliant play area and the hall we’ve been here all day again today.
A lovely walk through the woodlands on an adventure with the children followed by a visit to the hall. Sadly my favourite part of the hall is undergoing renovations, I can’t wait to see it.
But the price which is always very reasonable was reduced to 2.75 to adult because of the closures. This is an annual pass too! 2.75 for as many visits as you like in a year.
Students and children are free but we did pay a small amount for mouse treasure hunts.it was still only just over £5 for three mouse hunts and pencils and my ticket.
Lots of the museum staff were about and took time to point out different things and help make it really interesting for the children.
We were even able to go inside the kitchen which I’ve never done before.
The children 5, 5 and 10 all had a great day especially meeting Bill the bear.

Took my Austin Maestro for a hoon around the Trough.

Quiet roads, barring for the occasional cyclist. Had tea and tiffin in Dunsop bridge before thrashing the high performance Maestro over the Cross of Geet and back home.

Zero speed cameras on the route.

We visited the farm based on a recommendation and it is fantastic!

What stood out to us the most is how all the extras are included whereas at most farms you would pay extra for the train, the lamb bottle-feeding, the soft play etc but nope it was all included in the price! (The only extra is the £1.50 for a good sized bag of animal feed!)

Lamb bottle-feeding (seasonal) was taking place 3 times a day. The children are given a milk bottle each to feed the lambs which was a super hands-on and fun experience. There was lots of other Goats, horses, sheep, alpacas and llamas around to hand feed your bag of animal feed too. Lots of animals! There was a couple of baby Goats that just seemed to go rogue and keep escaping but they were funny to watch! 🤣

There was also a room with rabbits and guinea pigs in and another room with spiders, snakes and reptiles in. There was a lovely lady around who would take animals out so you can hold them and she would answer any questions you had.

The highlight for us was the train ride which departed 3 times a day and it is free! 10 min ride each way with a 5 min stop off at a small play area. It was fab! I can't believe it's all included.

There was also a small soft play, small ride on tractors and an outdoor play area. There is also a lovely sheepdog called Nell who was seemingly in charge and forever wandering around the place (we loved her!)

There was a cafe which we didn't eat at. We brought our own food and was planning on eating outside but the lady said we are allowed to eat our own food in the cafe which was lovely (we did buy hot drinks from there). The cafe is next to the soft play all in one area conveniently.

The staff were all just brilliant and really did go the extra mile. Animals all well looked after with adequate space to roam around.

Such a brilliant place and easy to spend a full day here! We'll be back! :)

£25 for 2 adults, 2 young children and animal feed included.

Animals were really friendly and clearly well cared for. A couple of play areas, a bouncy pillow and indoor bouncy castle and ball pit.

Onsite restaurant is great. Had a lovely hot baguette. Husband enjoyed the brunch. Saw the pie and mash and got proper food envy! All food really fresh and hot. Lovely decor too.
