Beautiful castle with well laid out gardens and an interesting interior.

It is not a large home by castle standards but there is plenty of history, and attractive artifacts to admire.

The guides are there if you need to ask them anything but keep a respectful distance to allow you look around and read the information provided.

    An enjoyable day.

Levens Hall is known worldwide for its famous topiary gardens. They really are amazing with so many different shapes and sizes but the gardens are much more than the topiary and time is needed to fully appreciate the work that must be needed to maintain them to such a high standard. You could easily spend several hours wandering around the gardens where there are plenty of places to sit and admire the landscape.
The Hall itself is particularly interesting with knowledgeable, friendly guides on hand to answer any queries. Photography is not allowed in the Hall as light levels are quite low in some parts.
There’s more than adequate car parking and entrance was £31 for two adults which we thought represented very good value.
There is a cafe/restaurant(reviewed separately) , gift shop and plant sales area together with toilets near the entrance.
Easy to find as the M6 is close by and there was is good signage.
    Highly recommended.

    What a great day!
The farm is great place to spend some time. Every element of our day was brilliant. The staff were friendly and helpful, all the animals were tame and loved being stroked/fed, the indoor picnic area was ideal but the star of the show are the outdoor activities.
Our group were aged between 10 and 68, with two teens 😬 but each of us had a blast. The mega slide and toboggan were a big hit and were used multiple times. The go karts, water balloon war zone and mini golf just added to the experience. We are all excited to visit again. Thanks Lakeland Maze Farm Park!

Looked to be great views from all seats in this lovely little theatre in the centre of Kendal. Eyewatering expensive drinks, and a big issue with tickets not scanning did detract from the evening, but still enjoyable overall.

Really interesting museum - very family friendly with children's activities. My 3 year old loved getting a little rucksack to take round which had magnifying glass, pictures to spot etc. A saviour on a rainy day!

The castle is around a 10 minute walk from Kendal town centre and is worth the exercise. Yes, there is a steep uphill walk - but as other have confirmed - it is worth it !

Came here on a rainy day whilst visiting Kendal. Really lovely, clean soft play and roleplay town. 3 year old and 1 year old loved it - we enjoyed the coffee

This is a small but beautiful gallery. We saw the Julie Brook exhibition. If you visit be prepared to watch the videos, each is about 15/20 mins long and there are at least five of them. Sometimes it feels like nothing is happening but I found it a rather meditative experience and the more I saw about how Julie Brook works the more amazing a woman and artist she seemed. I loved her drawings, paintings and photographs too, evocative. We virtually had the gallery to ourselves, a calming still place to wander in. There are a small number of other paintings/sculptures on show which gave me time to really look at them properly. We took two hours then needed a break - picnic lunch in the park outside and coffee from the gallery shop - then back in for another hour to finish viewing the exhibition. BBC4 have a documentary 'Forest Field and Sky: Art out of nature' this is on show in the gallery but you can watch it on i-player too. I think I enjoyed the exhibition more having watched that programme first as it gave me a better understanding of landscape artists like Julie Brook. After the exhibition the title "What is it that will last" is resonating with me. £9 for three enjoyable hours seems ok, especially as I can use the ticket again to visit Abbot Hall anytime in the next year

We visited this excellent reserve as part of an overnight trip with our birdwatching club as we drove between Walney Island and Leighton Moss. It's a little gem! Friendly staff, well-maintained boardwalks and viewing platforms. Lesser Redpolls, Willow Warblers, Tree Pipits and, of course, the nesting Ospreys. Well worth setting aside a couple of hours if you're in the area.

Been back a couple of times and great to see stock changing each time - it’s clearly a thriving business. Well priced items and some great vinyl bargains to be had, a couple of stalls in particular have keenly priced records to suit all tastes. A wide array of collectibles across the stalls as well as some nice pieces of furniture. Really something for everyone and close to town centre so fairly handy.
