This a MUST SEE EXPERIENCE for several reasons and should be at the top of your next Belize adventure list. What makes this cave the next run away attraction is its accessibility. A great new all weather road has just been built and it means that it is literally 20-30 minutes drive from San Ignacio!!
The cave itself is full of beautiful ancient mayan artifacts and architecture, stunning caverns and cave formations, a spectacular entrance and the usual rock hopping fun that we associate with so many spectacular caves found in the Cayo district.
However, AC is also has many very unique cave critters that are not only incredible to witness but also endemic to AC. He was a wonderful guide, and happily answered all my questions, made sure the group was doing ok at every turn, and gifted us with so much knowledge about the rainforest, the caves, the Mayans - truly everything. His experience is unparalleled, and his passion really helps you appreciate the history and our amazing environment. - PolyPickering, Canada1 contributionThis was a fantastic trip and experience. Valentin and his other drivers were great. Everything was so well organized. They were on time every time for a pick up. Valentin was a wealth of knowledge on everything from wildlife to Mayan history, and we felt so privileged to have him as our guide. Especially at Xunantunich where he had worked along side the archaeologists and had made an important discovery himself. We can’t wait to come back and bring family and friends to see this beautiful country. - Alan1 contributionHighly recommended tours from Jeevan. It may be possible to do Altun Ha and the Zip line tours for less money, you'd have to drive to get there. For the cave tubing you will need a guide which Jeevan is licenced as a guide. He's lived in the area and is quite knowledgeable of the area. He can visually identify local animals and plants (made a short stop on the side of the road for us to see some birds). He only does smaller sized groups as opposed to very large tour groups. I feel this is a plus over some of the larger sized groups which I observed.
I managed to find Jeevan in the city, unlike other similar tours for a much higher price, he was not pushy in terms of trying to make a sale. As I booked directly, the price was less the quoted price in others reviews.
