Spectacular views from the lookouts and driving down but you cannot climb anymore. I skipped the.boat ride because I thought wasn't worth it

After an al fresco breakfast with family friends at Lawa Cafe, Caleruega was our next stop. Our friends have been to Caleruega a few times but this was my family's first ever visit. For a popular wedding venue and tourist destination, the access road leading to this place was unpaved and very rough. At the entrance, we stopped to pay both parking fee (P40) and entrance fee (P30/person) while the guard gave us purple wristbands to wear while in the premises.

Our rental van driver let us off at the side entrance which was on the left side of the Transfiguration Chapel. We saw there was a midmorning wedding about to take place so we only took a quick peek inside. Outside the chapel, we went down the Dominican Steps and unexpectedly gave ourselves a good stair workout. We spent the next two hours exploring Caleruega's beautiful grounds. We took photos everywhere... the cauldron or "kawa" water fountain, walkways above the koi fish ponds, hanging bridge, Tent Chapel... We even saw a bunch of creatures I don't remember seeing before such as Philippine dragon flying lizard or "hambubukag," cicada and red maya. A tame mutt dog also followed us as we rested in the Tent Chapel. We did not encounter a lot of other visitors during this Monday visit. Except for the wedding party back at the Transfiguration Chapel, our photos had no errant strangers in them.

Do wear comfortable shoes and expect to do a lot of walking and stair climbing while in Caleruega. Lots of bloodthirsty mosquitoes around so either cover up or apply insect repellant to avoid being feasted on. Washroom fee costs P10/person.

Visiting this shrine with a close friend was a very moving experience and it was fulfilling to be able to intercede via prayer and written messages for my afflicted mother back home in my native New Zealand. We experienced a refreshing day full of fascinating statuary, buildings and semi-Open Air Masses

My first visit in 2015 was simply to visit the farm, this time it was to do the 'Stingless Bee' Workshop, a one day course coving the practical, academic, and business aspects of Stingless Bee keeping. Incredibly well organized, I came away with a greater understanding and appreciation of keeping native stingless bees.
A superb 1 hectare site this is a real life inspirational working farm - highly recommended, for beekeepers, wannabe beekeepers and anyone who wants to be inspired

Nice lake. Took a boat ride to the center island but tourists aren’t (yet) allowed on it because apparently it’s still active. Lots of small fish net farms on the lake. Views from Tagaytay were impressive and weather is cooler up along the crater rim.

You must have the tourist map to know where to go and what to see, but it is not easy to get hold of especially on Monday when everything is closed.
I have not seen this information anywhere, so I hope it will be helpful to those thinking of going to Taal.
I did eventually manage to obtain the map and there are many things to do even if most places are closed on Monday.
The basilica is of course open and very impressive in many ways.
The public market was also open with many Barong Tagalog shops, quite a sight for unfamiliar eyes.
Just walking around the ancient town with buildings from the 16th century takes you back in time.
We located San Lorenzo Ruiz steps, but finding Sta. Lucia Well took some detective work, a signpost would help, but it adds to the quaint atmosphere of Taal.
All in all a very worthwhile visit, even on a Monday!

It was an unplanned travel that went so well. We just walked in, and luckily, there were still available rooms for an overnight stay. Accommodating and professional staff, clean rooms; including the CR/shower area, and well maintained facilities. It was low tide when we arrived, got the chance to see starfish and sea urchins closely. Food taste and price is good. Place was huge but quiet. Did not swim in the pool coz the beach was awesome! It was very relaxing. Will definitely be back.

A stately landmark in Taal town. Popular for weddings - we saw two back-to-back! Wonderful to visit.

It was a little after 8am when we arrived in the City of Batangas. The city is almost a three hour drive from Quezon City. Once we were at the Grand Terminal, we had to ask around for where we can find a Jeepney ride to Anilao Port. It wasn’t really difficult as there were many who offered to take our group to Anilao. The fare was not at all expensive, we paid the driver PHP 40 each, that’s about 0.80 USD and in less than an hour we arrived safely at the port.

Anilao Port was packed with folks going to Tingloy to spend the weekend. We were given numbers assigned to our boat ride, and waited for two more hours before we got onto a boat that will take us to the island, and in less than an hour we arrived at Tingloy port. Tricycle rides were waiting to pick us up and to bring us to where we will be staying.

We travelled to Batangas with barely enough sleep. I wonder sometimes why we do this to ourselves, but hey, we had much fun! 😉

The ride to the house where we will be staying overnight was just a 15 minutes. It is important to note, that there are no houses at the beach and to get there you’ll need to either take a boat ride to its shore or to walk. We did both though. Walked to the beach and also rode a boat going there. It was quite fun hiking to the beach, and the waters going to the beach is crystal clear you can almost see the corals under.

This Twin Lakes establishment is a place with restaurants , coffee shops , convenience store and viewing deck of Taal Lake and the namesake hotel . Notables here include Bag of Beans and Starbucks. Be wary of nice people roaming around peddling the condo units they are selling . Based on the TA reviews , this is much different from the Twin Lakes hotel on the lower level .

It was quite an adventure climbing Mount Batulao. Unfortunately, the trail is bare. We noticed very few trees along the trail leading up to the summit. It was very hot. The trail is very narrow with no barriers on either side for protection and can be slippery. You can run the risk of falling off the cliff if you are not careful. So, always exercise caution, ask questions and listen to your tour guide.
At the base of the summit you need to scale/rappel the final portion of the trail using a rope. It took us approximately 6-7 hours to get to the summit from the jump off point and back.

    Beautiful church! ❤

Perfect place to be solemn and to give thanks and praises to the Almighty God the Father, Jesus Christ, Mother Mary and to all the angels & saints.

    Sacred place for prayers. 🙏

    Glory to God.
