- David BToronto, Canada361 contributionsStopped in here today, just to kill a couple hours, really enjoyed ourselves. Honestly, they have a bit of everything for all ages too. The train museum of course, mix of some indoor displays and some outdoor locomotives and rolling stock. Plus, a lot of railroad memorabilia and history from this part of Ontario. They also had a bunch of artifacts from logging and mining, including some fairly unique railroad items. Also an outdoor children’s train themed large play area and some attractive horticultural gardens. Then, down the road, included with your ticket, is the old firehall with historic displays, upstairs some cultural and sports memorabilia from the area and the basement had some beautiful operating model railroads. So, some of everything for everyone.Written July 19, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- thistle-do-nicelyKilmarnock, UK632 contributionsWe enjoyed a couple of hours browsing and being advised by the knowledgeable staff. I particularly wanted crime / mystery by a local author and left with a Giles Blunt novel. My son also had great advice and discovered a few new authors, but the proof of the quality of the service only became apparent after we left.
A few hours later we got a call from the reception in our hotel asking if we had been to Bay Used Books. Apparently I had bought the third book in the Giles Blunt series, and they called around several hotels on the South Side looking for a Scottish family to let me know that they had the first book in the series and I could swap if I wanted. Unbelievable, but true.Written July 12, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. There were many different types of exotic animals to look at. Ryder was super helpful and knowledgable about all of the species of animals and even took out a couple for us to see! I've seen some comments about the enclosures of these animals, but after hearing their stories of how most of them ended up here, I can say they are definitely better off here and taken care of much better.Written November 17, 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. In fact, the onion rings were the best we have ever tasted! - Cheverett4 contributionsCame to this arena to watch the Sudbury Wolves as a fan of the opposing team. I received the usual chirping and heckling from the home team fans as would be expected in any arena, which was all in good fun. Nothing ever crossed the line I'd say. YMMV if you're a fan of a division rival though, as with all teams.
I was just barely able to get parking across the arena an hour before puck drop. $5 to park there, not sure about how many other places are available so please plan ahead.
I probably won't make the trip again due to it being several hours away from home one-way, but good arena nevertheless! Cannot go wrong with hockey in Canada, and the tickets are reasonably priced for Major Junior hockey.Written October 7, 2019This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC.
