Fall colors were great! We did the loop that goes from town up to the gorge and we used about 4 hours as we stopped to talk to the friendly locals often.

It is a little confusing where the trail goes up near the top, especially if going counter clockwise on the loop. You cross the water pipeline twice. If going counter clockwise, then you come out to a clear area, cross the huge water pipeline on a road, turn left and follow the pipeline until you come to a stile stairway and cross it again. You can see a trail sign on the other side of the pipeline here were you cross. Go up the rise and the trail will become clear again.

This has got to be the best $3 spent. There’s no time limit. We got to tour the train’s exterior and interior at our leisure. It was an interesting experience.

    What a lovely space!

I recently had the pleasure of visiting the Rotary Arts Center here in Corner Brook, NL. I have to say that it exceeded my expectations in every possible way. From the moment I stepped foot into the center, I felt an indescribable sense of artistic energy and passion.

    I will be back.

I can't possibly add anything beyond the excellent review by retiree Vancouver. All of his comments about the museum, the rooftop garden, and the train ride are still valid today.

This is a beautiful park with lots of walking trails, it is well-maintained with a park for children and a pond with swans. It winds through part of Corner Brook with a section that goes in the city area. There is parking at the beginning . I didn’t see any bathrooms which would have been helpful.

All types of framing to meet you choice. Excellent staff to help you make this choice. Also they have local prints to purchase which are beautiful and good pricing.

Attended the 30000 hours exhibit which was very good. The art gallery is part of the Fine Arts building at Grenfell so there was interesting things happening besides the gallery exhibit. Definitely worth a look for up and coming Newfoundland art.

Now known as the Corner Brook Civic Centre since the sponsorship deal finished 18-months ago. The stadium is very comfortable with good views from all around. The standard of Senior Ice Hockey on the West Coast of Newfoundland is very good and we saw some great matches in February and March of 2016. There was a couple of fast food outlets in the stadium - none of the well known variety and better for it. Cost of a couple of hours hockey entertainment was $13; about £7.00 for all seats, most of which were on a first come first served basis. The only downside was trying to get a car out of the car park after the event - it took about 30-minutes!

Near city square in Corner Brook is the Corner Brook War Memorial. It is located on Remembrance Square and consists of two life-size statues of soldiers and a Caribou mounted on top of the monument. The soldiers represent a World War I and a Canadian soldier from the Afghanistan War. The Caribou represents an image for the province chosen in 1914 to represent the First Battalion of the Royal Newfoundland Regiment. All sculptures were created by local sculptor Morgan MacDonald.

When the first Church of England’s Holy Cross Chapel was built in the 1860s it served as the place of worship services. In time, it was determined the chapel was not structurally sound and too small for the growing congregation. Land for a new church was purchased from the International Pulp & Paper Company from the owners of the mill. The new church is on Main Street in Corner Brook. To finance the building, men and women went door to door seeking donations. The cornerstone of the church was laid on July 15, 1934, and construction completed the next year and consecrated in 1937. Around 1940, a lych gate was added which marked the division between consecrated and unconsecrated ground. The gate serves as a shelter for a funeral casket awaiting entrance into the church. A volunteer at the church said the church is the oldest wooden structure I the city and has the oldest continuously standing lych gate. The interior is wood, and the stained-glass windows add to its beauty.
