Terry and Locho were the most amazing tour guides, so helpful and friendly we couldn’t have asked for better! Would recommend this excursion to anybody. - Amy L10 contributionsThe park is huge. Bring your soled water shoes so you don't have to switch from wet to dry. Soled water shoes help with all the walking on these massive grounds.
On this tour you had 2 options..
1) Leave to head back at 4/4:30 OR
2) Stay for the live show and leave at 9
I wish we had stayed for the show...BUT after so many hours, adding another 5 hours seemed daunting. With so much in the water, a water camera or waterproof casing for your phone is a must. Lockers were included in this tour which was helpful...you can go in and out. Each of the 3 swimmable rivers is worth it. Literally TONS of photo ops in and out of the water.
Happy to report the animals seemed well cared-for. One thing I don't like is there was a group doing the interactive shark swim. They really billed it as being frightening and dangerous. At one point they even put fake blood in the water. VERY LAME. They were calm nurse sharks. This is how fear of sharks gets perpetuated. Do better.
Pro tip: When you arrive, you're directed to the line to sign up for "extras." Gabriel, our guide, was incredibly knowledgeable, and he was able to answer all our questions. He was at a good pace and we where able to cover a lot of ground, see stuff that people normally skips.

In the first, we saw sea turtles, star fish and various aquatic life among the coral reefs. Our guide made it very easy to get used to snorkeling (it was my first time) and taught us all the hand signals and talked us through all the way. We enjoyed seeing all of the marine life. And the cenote tour was incredible. The view was amazing, and we saw families of bats just resting. Our guide told interesting stories about the cenote and we learned a lot about the local history and culture surrounding these water sources. Definitely recommend doing this if you are in the area. It happens to be next to the largest coral reef outside of Australia. It is also the nesting ground for sea turtles and Frigate birds. Victor, Victor and Rhett where very kind and accommodating they had so much information to share about the history of the Mayans civilization
The bus was really nice the Cenotes and Valladolid where very nice
Chichén itzá was incredible all the historical ruins where so unique and amazing I didn't really like all the merchants harassing me for sales but there's not much you can do about that
Overall it was a very educational and unique experience
