We had a lovely young woman give us an abbreviated tour of the distillery, that was just right for our tastes. The grounds aren't very big, but there is a decent tasting room and shopping area. We enjoyed the rums and the atmosphere.
We were able to walk here from the cruise port, but it was about a 20 minute walk and there is some uphill walking and it's in the streets to get there. The sidewalk situation is basically non-existent.
It's a very short tour and an easy quick stop during your day.

The Straw Market is nothing you haven't visited in other ports if you've cruised before and hit those ports. The only difference is that it's shaded.

Bay Street has recovered. Tourists have returned, and souvenir shops are mostly all open once again. Straw market is at least half occupied. Take jitney bus #10 for a cheap ride up and down bay Street to get an idea of other areas you may want to visit. Definitely visit the fish fry area for some authentic food.

I visited the Art Gallery when it first opened back in 2003 I believe. The architect is a friend of mine and I had a personal tour. Visited again in April 2022 again with my architect friend. I was rather disappointed to see that the gallery was allowed to run down a bit without any significant maintenance. That’s my only criticism, however. The exhibition was excellent and well presented and I highly recommend it to all visitors to this beautiful island.

We stayed at Baha Mar and took an acrylic pouring class with Matthew, and it was one of our highlights of the trip!

Be sure to signup for a class at the start of your trip as it takes a minimum of two days for your art to dry.

The signup process is a little difficult to figure out. I would suggest calling in to the studio directly to complete the signup process and complete payment.

Sessions are $85/person (VAT included), and the session is 2 hours long. Sessions are very personalized with very few people in attendance and your artist gives you very personalized attention.

At the end of the session too it’s so nice to have a new piece of art to call your own!

We found this place as part of an organized walking tour. The gallery is small, but the artwork is beautiful. As part of our tour, we enjoyed a rum tasting and made our own craft cocktail under the guidance of the galleries mixologist. The conch fritters were delish, the art and history inspiring, and drink was refreshing!

You can get a good bargain. Expect to have an onslaught of people coming at you to shop in there space. If the don't have what you are looking for and they no someone who does they will walk you over to that person's space. They were very respectful and friendly even when you don't buy.

Tucked away down a side street, this art gallery and crafts studio is line a mini Bahamian oasis. Beautiful, locally made paintings, wood carved bowls and arts and crafts. Make sure you chat with the staff working there, who have amazing backstories about the art and crafts they sell.

You can spend a couple of hours or less depending on your plans. There is a lot to see and many of the shop owners are friendly and chatty. Better to walk there. the street is narrow and crowded with taxis and tour vans. There are shops for eating, visiting and seeing local / native crafts

This is just a bunch of local artists shops. There's stuff really cool looking stuff to see. The artists are not pushy either.

This can be a quick stop if you want.

Believe it or not, the Central Bank of the Bahamas is a happening place! Bahamian artworks, by both emerging and established artists, are displayed on two floors, where the upper floor is a balcony that encircles the open space below. The display seems to be changed about every other month. Every new opening is a VERY well-attended event, and socializing with the artists, gallerists, and collectors is both instructive and entertaining.

Was looking for a unique ring to take back to the states. Stumbled onto this place. From a flyer for a free charm that was given to me on the streets. The sales lady made me look at some rings before she gave me the free charm. I was amazed at the flip ring with a wrap that she showed me. It was stunning and I hadn’t seen it in the states. I was over excited. I bought it. Sizeing was free. I have it for 2 days and noticed a stone was missing Very disappointing. I rarely buy myself anything. And thought I was getting a great deal for 149.00. She said it was 500.00 and was on special. I got took. She even said it had a lifetime warranty But when I got home the receipt said no guarantee, no returns. This place is a rip off.

One of the best things about PopOp is that artists rent studio space and even live there in the main building. Whenever there is a special exhibit (as opposed to the artwork that normally adorns the walls), the artists are there to talk with you and explain their works, which are usually very creative and avant garde. John Cox, the owner/artist/ curator of BahaMar, is not often on property because of the work he's doing for BahaMar (soliciting and coordinating all the artwork for this massive new Cable Beach megaresort, where all the art in every room of every building will have been done by a Bahamian artist). This is not surprising, because The Bahamas seems to grow artists! (COB is doing a great job in this field.) However, if you are lucky, you may see Kendal Hanna, a living legend abstract expressionist par excellence, who lives in one of the out-buildings on the PopOp property. By the way, some of the artworks are outdoor installations, so be sure to look around.

I wanted something very specific, and the staff not only was able to envision it, but they also had a Jewler there that was able to create what I wanted. It turned out perfect! Would recommend anyone coming to Nassau to be sure and check out Kays before shopping anywhere else.
