What travelers are saying
- Dave KOverland Park, KS24 contributionsThis was one of the highlights of our trip! Agi was fantastic and shared the amazing history not only of the synagogue, but of the historic artifacts present, including a menorah from the 11th century! Seeing a torah that was recovered from when Nazis looted European synagogues brought us chills. This is a must see for humans of any religion.Written 2 July 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC.
- MEHEL3Fayetteville, NC639 contributionsOur visit was 1 May 2022. The steps are located in front of Blackbeard’s Castle. So we walked down and back up the steps. I did could 99 but two steps are double so they could be considered two steps. You get to see the homes in the area and all the beautiful flowers along the way.Written 12 June 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC.
- ron SAlamosa, CO601 contributionsWe had been on this street years ago coming off a cruise ship. The area look much as it did then except that so many shops were closed or non existent. For the ones that were there they are friendly and welcoming. My jewelry stores. Emeralds are the big jewelry besides diamonds. T-shirt shops and other things. Its hard to come back from 2 category 5 Hurricanes in 2017 and Covid stopping the Cruise Ships. These people are resilient and it won't be long before their back. We still had a great dayWritten 11 September 2021This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC.
- MEHEL3Fayetteville, NC639 contributionsDuring our trip 28 April - 3 May 2022, this site was where Carnival activities were. Did not get the opportunity to go inside but it is a huge building. Kept up pretty nice compared to some other old sites in the area.Written 12 June 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC.
- MEHEL3Fayetteville, NC639 contributionsOur visit was 1 May 2022. The 99 steps are located in front of it. You can not get into it because of the hurricane damage from 2017. So it is closed but you can still see it. You can get some nice views from this point of different areas of island. Not much to say after that.Written 12 June 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC.
- terri pMaryville, TN128 contributionsStopped by here on our cruise to St. Thomas. We did the tasting and all the beer was amazing. My favorite was the 85 & Sunny pale ale and my husband loved the rooster brown ale. Nice find away from all the cruise tourist spots.Written 7 June 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC.
- Colin ArchibaldKingston, TN4,465 contributionsAs part of our tour of the island we stopped at the overlook where we could see our cruise ship and the city. Great views and beautiful sceneryWritten 20 March 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC.
- GRZChicago, IL7,626 contributionsIt's impossible not to notice the beautiful water on this beach while leaving the STT airport... yet it took us 2nd trip to St Thomas to finally come here and spend some time.
There is some parking along the main street or you can park at the Emerald Beach Resort, which has also parking available to outside guests since their restaurant on the beach is also open to everyone - we opted with the latter.
Portion of the beach is directly in front of the resort, which is accessible of course to anyone since beaches are public, but then there is also a beach chair rental business as you continue along the beach. Didn't try them but they played some great reggae music and the vibes were good - there were some guys selling weed but a simple no thank you is all you needed to say.
The food and drinks at the Emerald Beach Resort were of decent quality as well but some other non-resort food joints are closer to the beach chair rental business if that's more to your liking.
Bonus: the highlight of the beach is the taking off planes on the STT airport - in my modest and personal opinion far greater than St Maarten!
TIP: the hotel beds are for the hotel patrons but no body checks that... although very bitten and in desperate need of TLC it was a welcome "added value" to visiting the area, as cheap on our end as it sounds :PWritten 29 October 2021This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC. - Connie WClarksville, TN24 contributionsThe last time we were there the walkway wasn't the greatest from downtown to the marina area. They have upgraded it along with the area around the marina. It is so much nicer now.Written 7 July 2021This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC.
- TennisStar602Florida400 contributionsI saw a few people gathered in this area, but there was not much to it. I would like to have seen what this area was like before the pandemicWritten 28 June 2021This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC.
- Patricia BFreeport, FL284 contributionsThis is not a first class operation, so don't expect it to be. Some of the staff act like they are doing you a favor....some are very sweet. You pay for luggage. If the seas are rough, and you sit below the top deck in the middle/rear area, expect to get a salt-water shower. We enjoyed the crazy, bumpy ride, but others who tend to be sea sick or have an expensive hair do will have a problem. They were on time, which was nice. The restaurant upstairs from the ferry building is quite good...and they will let you store your luggage.Written 20 March 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC.
- Colleen CIndependence, KS58 contributionsThis building is worth a visit when in St. Thomas. The pulpit is very unusual. The church welcomes tourists and the architecture is interesting.Written 11 February 2020This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC.
- jkzooMansfield, OH878 contributionsThis was a cool garden with seating, neat sculptures and lots of chickens to add to the ambience - as well as a pigeon or two.Written 10 June 2021This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC.
- tnt t12 contributionsAdorable alleyway with a bar, restaurant, a few shops, and offices on the higher levels. Lush greenery and a fountain as well.Written 20 March 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC.
- jaybeeFLPalm Harbor, FL2,911 contributionsVery colorful, clean shopping area adjacent to cruise terminal. What that means is you have to walk thru the area passing shop after shop some of which are definitely going to attract you or your wife's, partner's or significant other's attention. That means subsequently your wallet! Oh well, isn't that part of cruising and visiting these beautiful islands! Yes we dropped a couple hundred on our way thru these shops and thankfully we didn't stop in any of the many jewelry stores! That's getting away cheap!!Written 14 June 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC.
