We did this as part of an all-day excursion & it was a fun little stop. It's not so much a "pirate" museum as it is a shipwreck museum; it helps to be a history buff. The downstairs is mostly items recovered from a ship or two, but there is quite a bit to read and learn. The upstairs is more interactive for the kids - places for pics and a few interactive display stations. We were there for about 45 minutes, which was plenty of time for everything.

This was one of the best experiences on St. Thomas. Our guide Agi was knowledgeable, friendly, welcoming and very personable. She was patient in her explanations and very good story teller. Make sure you pick up something at the gift shop.

We had been on this street years ago coming off a cruise ship. The area look much as it did then except that so many shops were closed or non existent. For the ones that were there they are friendly and welcoming. My jewelry stores. Emeralds are the big jewelry besides diamonds. T-shirt shops and other things. Its hard to come back from 2 category 5 Hurricanes in 2017 and Covid stopping the Cruise Ships. These people are resilient and it won't be long before their back. We still had a great day

My wife and I stopped by the brewery yesterday to check this place out, and boy was I impressed! The brewery is very small and a bit hard to find (I asked for directions at a bar directly below - the brewery was upstairs). Anyway, Terri (one of the owners) treated us to a private tasting of the 4 beers they had on tap. All 4 were very good, but I LOVED their new hazy pale ale that they had made using a different yeast than what they use for their normal pale ale (the supply shortage is making it harder for them to get all of the ingredients they need). Anyway, I am so glad that they brewed this “experimental “ hazy pale ale beer. I hope that they make it a permanent addition to their brews! At least I was able to buy a 32-oz. crowler of this to take back to my hotel to enjoy during the rest of my stay. Well done, Frenchtown Brewing Co.!

    Beautiful Cathedral to celebrate Mass

    -----

    Longer Review

We visited St. Thomas, USVI, for the first time in 2021, and had a great time.

One of the highlights was celebrating Mass at the Cathedral of Saints Peter & Paul.

The cathedral is mostly repaired from the hurricanes in 2017… it sounds like possibly only the air conditioner still needs to be replaced.

The building’s exterior is a beautiful shade of golden yellow. The stained glass windows celebrate the Sacred Heart of Jesus the lives of saints and encourage us to become our saints ourselves.

Paintings on the ceiling celebrate Jesus as a child, the Trinity - God the Father, the Son and Holy Spirit, and Jesus’ Passion… and above the altar Jesus’ Crucifixion.

The theme of this weekend’s homily: This is the day the Lord has made; let us rejoice and be glad.

    It is a small world…
We’re from St. Louis, MO, and Belleville, IL is a few minutes away, just across the Mississippi River, 30 minutes from our house… after Mass, as we said “Hello,” Rev. Msgr. Jerôme Feudjio shared that he served in the Belleville Diocese for a while… he knows where we live!

The Feast Day of St. Peter and Paul happened to be that week, so the parish was celebrating. After Mass they shared cake and drinks with us… tasty… and more importantly, so welcoming to us visitors.

Thank you, parish of the Cathedral of Saints Peter and Paul, for letting us celebrate Mass and your feast weekend with you!

Adorable alleyway with a bar, restaurant, a few shops, and offices on the higher levels. Lush greenery and a fountain as well.

Visitors are welcome for Sunday service. The church was open through the week as well. Around 80 were in attendance the Sunday we visited. It was a "light" 60 minute service in a beautiful light-filled, breezy sanctuary. Worth a visit for everyone needing a bit of reflection amidst the shopping, eating and sight-seeing of Charlotte Amalie.

A wonderful walk through history on St. Thomas. We enjoyed every minute of our visit at the synagogue. “Agi” was very kind and explained every detail beautifully. It was really powerful sitting in that space. We are so glad we had the chance to stop here on our trip and would highly recommend it to anyone visiting the area.

We visited this place twice during our brief visit to St Thomas: once for beer (and fries) then again for burgers and beer. Nice to sit on the patio and relax with a cold beer. Staff was super friendly and attentive, and the burgers are amazing! Nothing fancy: you write down what you want on your burger and they bring it to you in a brown bag. Make it a double and add toppings!

AH Riise Mall is one of many shopping oppertunities located in the centre of town. Worth a visit, it is cheaper than products on the cruise liners, but there are similar shops selling in the area, so I would suggest shopping around for the best price.

Hotel 1829 is a lovely old building set up steps from the road and surrounded by palm trees, located adjacent to Fort Christian. A beautiful building, it makes a great photo opportunity.

Was not able to go in gallery, but saw work displayed on walls on street. Took pictures...looked her up later...does great work. Would highly recommend visiting her site.

The Virgin Islands Children’s Museum is the most amazing experience for children of all ages - and parents love it, too. I try to recommend it as a ‘must-go-to’ visit as often as I can. I love that it’s right next door to the Pirates Treasure Museum, too. I suggest that people do this: shop at the Havensight Mall, then take the Tramway to Paradise Point, have lunch atop, come back down, visit the VICM, then go next door to the Pirates Treasure Museum - it’s a really fun outing.
