What can I possibly add about one of the seven natural wonders of the world. It’s surreal! We only had 3 hours to spend and enjoyed every minute. Looking forward to returning for an overnight stay and more time to hike around the south rim! Amazing place.

Go potty before you start; bring water and snacks; dress in layers; good shoes a must; camera or phone camera; wear a hat. There are 3 stops on this trail; 1 mile, 1.5 miles, and 3 miles. Do the 1 mile if unable to walk the whole way. I am not 'in shape,' and though it was ok going down, it took almost twice as long to get up. IT WAS WORTH IT! and very doable. I walked slowly up, took water sip breaks, and was SO GLAD I pushed through and walked the mile hike to Ooh Aah point on the SKT. Take your time. The view is wonderful and there are Condor birds nesting nearby. Numerous pictures of ours have them soaring in the background. Enjoy!

Only do it in one day, if you are really fit.

Planning my trip to GC, I definitely wanted to hike deep in the canyon and during my research I identified these 2 as doable, checking the tracks I decided to do them together to makle the loop.
I have read many reviews and many different points of view, however I see that in the US nat parks all trails are prepared for general public that are not used to hike. I am usually hiking distances like this journey even with more height difference, so its doable, moreover in November with no heat.
So, I did carry 3 liters and I did drink less than 2 actually. Energy bars and some fruit, that was enough.
I calculated 9 hours, 3 hours to reach the river and 6hrs to get back to the village. Eventually, It took me 3 hours to get to the river and 4 hours to get back to the village. Including time for many pictures and eat&drink.
I just stopped at river to eat (10min), rest of eating and drinking was during the hike, non stop.
    Advices:
    - Do not make long stops, this will kill you to resume the hike.
    - Do not eat much in one time, rather than light bites.
    - Drink continuouslly.
    - Bring always warm clothes (hat, gloves, coat, extra pair for socks) and external light, just in case.
    - Cell fully charged.
    - Map/Navi app with the current map "very" updated.
    - GPS gadget would be nice to have, with tracks already uploaded, however this trail is very well highlighted during the trail.
    - Being fit makes this hike enjoyable. I was planning to spend a whole day in a hiking like this.
    - Hiking poles, will help your knees and legs during the journey down to the river and to climb during the ascent.
    - Backpack, must be always setup properly, this will remove all weight to your shoulder, back and will be loaded to your hips.

We were there 11.16.22. It was cold, there were patches of ice on the road and trails (so drive slow, wear good shoes, and use caution). Dress in layers...dress warm! I was comfortable getting out of the car; cold shortly thereafter; warm within minutes of walking the trail. Layers. The trails are beautiful; there were birds, somewhat friendly, landing within feet of us (to our surprise); trails are clean and easy to walk; lots of places to look out and absorb GOD's majesty; we saw limited people, mostly couples, one family with younger kids; there are port a potties (with ample toilet paper); make sure to have water with you and snacks (there are no workers and nothing is open in late fall, winter months); it is worth the trip. We were told the North Rim is not as busy because it was not as 'beautiful' as the South Rim, and harder to get to. Well...it is a tad harder to get to... however...the Grand Canyon is just that. Grand. Beautiful. Majestic. It was worth the trip and we would do it again! (Yes, we went to the South Rim the next day...if you have time... DO BOTH!)

I walked about 3 miles along the Rim Trail from the Kolb Studio Art Gallery to the National Park Visitor Center. The trail is an easy walk along level ground and the scenery is spectacular. Along the way is a Trail Through Time, which features rocks of varying ages that are part of the Canyon. There are many scenic spots where you can stop and take photos. Highly recommended.

This is, by far, the busiest of the overlooks because it is nearest the visitor center. Which means lots of people. However, it has a nice paved walk way so folks with mobility issues - this is best for you!

The Grand Canyon lives up to its name. It is grand indeed. Go for a walk and enjoy the views. I walked about 3 miles along the Rim Trail and enjoyed the spectacular scenery. Be sure to take the time to enjoy the park's many attractions.

This Watchtower is near the East Entrance to the Park. There is a lot of construction going on, but you can still walk to the tower and admire the magnificent views.

We loved the views from our Hopi Point vantage spot. It's situated so that you can see either sunrise or sunset. The way the light hits the canyon walls is quite beautiful. Hopi seemed to be the most popular of the spots at sunset when we were there. If you take the red shuttle in the canyon, it is easy to walk to the stop just before Hopi for a smaller crowd.

The East Entrance is 25 miles west of 89 in AZ. Its a MUCH better option for getting in and out of the park as there is much less traffic AND all the lookouts are on this side anyways.

This is one of the overlooks on the East road. Its maybe 15 min from the visitors center. Limited parking. The site of an old hotel and the first major tourist area of the park until the railroad was completed. Worth the stop.

The sunset views are incredibly beautiful. Highly recommend! We came here based upon photographer recommendation and are so glad we did. It’s a pretty drive out there. We expected it not to be crowded based on reviews on here - but the parking lot does get full right at sunset. Get here early for a spot. Doesn’t feel crowded otherwise- but cars were backed up and parking it in front of “do not park” signs. Photographer said that word has gotten out and it is becoming a zoo at sunset. Definitely worth it - best views ever!

It’s over a 15 mile drive on a narrow and twisting paved road but it’s worth it! We saw a few deer and a flock of turkeys both times we drove this road. By September 19 some of the Aspen trees were already sporting their electric yellow foliage. There are multiple places to pull out. Picnic Area is actually a great place to pull over and eat. We had a breakfast picnic there after watching a stunning sunrise over Cape Royal.
