- 𝐂𝐎𝐂𝐎 𝐕𝐄𝐍𝐓𝐔𝐑𝐄𝐒Philippines40 contributionsEverything but the best. White sand, beautiful water, relaxing place. We paid 100 pesos for the entrance fee since its a private island and its not included in some tours. But its all worth it. This is the highlight of my travel vlog. - Lightning_jackLas Pinas, Philippines329 contributionsBigaho Falls is one of our tour destinations when while visiting San Vicente and this waterfall is the main highlight of our trip. From the beach shore, we walked to the waterfall for about 25 minutes. Before reaching the waterfall, we need to pay 50 pesos per person.
When we reached the waterfall, we were the only people there. It's nice to have privacy on our own while enjoying the gift of nature.Written 4 November 2019This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - RitaPicarraRamosLisbon, Portugal48 contributionsI went there with one of the fisherman families that takes care of one the kubos. We had food together and hiked to one of the high parts of the island, to their other hut. The view was incredible. One of the owners of the island was there finishing a deal to sell to an investor, so if you can go there, go before they "ruin" it. The reefs around are incredible, the water is warm, tranquil and clean. We played volley, badminton, had meals and listened to music with the inhabitants. The only down side are the nik nik, these pesky sand flies that bit me all over my body, and whose bites you can be allergic too and are really really itchy. Take a repelent!Written 24 June 2017This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- Paul VCalgary, Canada273 contributionsThis resort is now called Esmeralda Villa. You can reach it by boat from Port Barton or via a bumpy road. Take the boat if you can. This place has a few large bungalows, but caters mainly to day trippers who come and go throughout the day. They do not stay overnight though. Check-in went smoothly and the accommodation is clean with lots of light, plugs, comfortable beds and a good size bathroom. No safe in room, no wifi, no water. There is a/c, but you might as well open the windows (there are screens) to enjoy the breeze. Rooms were not cleaned during our two night stay, so use the towels with care. No electricity between midnight and 17:30, which also means no hot water. If you want to take a warm shower, do it at night. In general quiet, even if the resident dogs made their presence known and bats dropped all kinds of stuff on the thin roof, which woke us up a couple of times. The grounds are very well kept, with leaves swept every morning. There is a smoking section, however smoking seems to happen everywhere. Pre-order your food. Best choice for breakfast was the French toast. Coffee is the three in one kind, like in many other countries in Asia. Not everything on the menu is available all the time, so check. Same goes for drinks. The pizza was good with lots of cheese and a thin crust. You can book excursions to go island hopping, but we decided to take it easy. Good swimming from the beach. A few hammocks are available. Very pleasant surprise. If you can live off the grid for a few days, this is the place to go.Written 13 March 2020This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Harry Gibson1 contributionThe bike ride to the falls is beautiful and from the main town it only took approximately 20 minutes. It would have been lovely to see the falls, which as advised should be a 10-15 minute walk to see in its stunning natural setting.
Unfortunately, husbands beware, if your wife does not have suitable footwear you may hear early comments such as “I’m not sure I want to do this walk” which may seem harmless at first. However, I must stress this is but a red siren which is easily missed, as if in the wrong footwear and walking bare foot, it is highly likely this will progress to extreme, prolonged moaning... walking metres behind you huffing and a true sense of anger and fear for your life.
I’ve heard the falls are lovely, a must see, romantic, thought provoking...and as we strolled through the forest we reached the half way point to the falls, with the sound of the falling water echoing in the distance. As you walk you feel your mind quiet with little thoughts or stress... mindful in the moment, however..suddenly there was an alarming invisible breaking point I had unwitting walked into blissfully unaware. Alas, stood there a sizeable distance behind me she’s stood hands on hips... refusing to walk no more, and in this moment I realised.... I would like to live another day.
The walk back is peaceful in the forest, you can hear the birds, the wind in the trees and the faint sound of your other half plotting how they will end your life behind you, this included with a refusal of eye contact or a hand to help them over the ridge.
The bike ride back to the main town was quietly sinister, however there are several cafes serving pancakes which I highly recommend as a vital antidote.
A must see attraction which with the right footwear, attention to key warning signs and a sense of true perseverance can be enjoyed be all.Written 18 March 2020This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Staff here is so friendly, layback and helpfull. For 20€/night we had everything we needed.
Theres no roosters or no dogs(sometimes one dog wondered there from nearby fishing village), so its quiet, also at night and morning.
There aint so much things to do, you need to found something by your self. We took paddle boat two times and went to next maxima and exotic islands. Also theres a nice viewpoint up in the hill, it took about 20min hike to get there.
I understand why some guests and reviews are complaining about the place. It has seen better days, but theres renovateing going on. Bungalows aint dirty, alltho they are very simple. Just bed with GOOD mosquitonet, table and closet. Bathroom did need more maintenance.
Its true that wifi aint working most of the time, i found that quite pleasing.
Somebody were complaining about the beach..the beach is actually very clean, staff takes care of that. Offcourse theres some seaweed and rocks when you go into the water 😂
The owner of that place needs to spend some money and time for the place. It has great potential and perfect location.
Anyway we really enjoyed our stay on the island. Chatting whit staff and hanging out with the other couple staying there was just what we needed.Written 23 March 2017This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. The Philippines islands are amazing in general and snorkeling is excellent in most of Palawan.Written 9 November 2015This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC.
