Unusually interesting walled garden makes this worth an hour or so of your time.

Some of the more interesting sculptures require climbing a spiral staircase which, surprisingly given that some of the old stone steps are uneven, has no bannister or even a rope down the centre to hold on to.

As a Birthday treat for my dear friend, I booked tickets for an afternoon tea on the Brechin Caledonian Railway on 11/6/22 - it was first class in every respect - food, hospitality, scenery and company - great fun and we made a lovely memory.

This is without a hidden gem as I came to see a photographic exhibition, which was first class but I took time to see the rest of the museum and it is certainly worth a visit.

We had a fantastic Distillery visit and were totally blown away with their single malts. Douglas was amazing. A real hidden gem of the Distillery world. As yet you can't just turn up but need to be organised in advance by contacting the Distillery for a tour only on a Tuesday or Thursday but well worth the organisation as it's a rare opportunity to have a tour with the Manager or production team you wont be disappointed!

We only walked around the cathedral grounds and graveyard but liked the fact the round tower is one of only two of this [Irish] design in Scotland. There’s a doorway located a good ten feet above the ground because they used to keep important documents and relics here and so it added to security by having the doorway so high up.

In driving or walking along the High Street this building is quite superb with a unique clock tower. Sadly the building has been closed on the occasions when I have been in the village.

We visited the castle country park on Sunday and had a brilliant day out. With a 19 month old, 6 year old and 10 year old in tow there was plenty for everyone and we spent over 4 hours here. The Fairy Trail is fantastic and great for the imagination, the dry slope sledge was a huge hit with all children and adults. And theres was plenty to do in the play parks. Lots of space for a picnic. But I would say watch where you decide to lay out the mat or where the kids are running because random parts of the park are quite marshy, also the day we were there there seemed to be alot of animal poo around (which of course can't be helped with wild animals). Not too expensive to enter and parking was free.

Marvellous day with 4 year old playing in clean white sand, riding tractors and sledge, playing with water wall, climbing on well maintained playground equipment, bouncing on inflatables etc etc etc. All set in well kept grassed areas. Could nit fault the 5 or so hours spent there and well worth the drive from aberdeen. Not our first visit and not our last :-)

Situated beside the House of Farnell this charming rural church is in a beautiful setting of rolling hills with a large Cemetery including war graves . The Church is open for visitors and has an interesting ceiling and lighting . A small balcony . No stained glass windows but it has a nice ambience to it .It is linked to the Gardner Memorial Church in Brechin and uses its website. The present church was built in 1806 on the site of a much older Parish Church with Gothic Revival architectural details

An interesting & eye-catching ornate gothic-style red granite memorial , commissioned from a sister in remembrance of her beloved brother. Lady Christian Maule had this drinking fountain commissioned in 1877 in memory of her brother Fox Maule Ramsay ( what a colourful name) - who was born in 1801 , and died heirless in 1874. It’s located in pleasant grassy St. Ninian’s Square.
