What travelers are saying
- japanguideTokyo, Japan500 contributionsThis is in one of the hidden Christian villages of World Heritage in Goto Islands. We need to make a prior notice for a visit to the Hidden Christian Sites in the Nagasaki Region Information Centre.
I reserved a taxi tour visiting Catholic churches in Nakadori Island, so a taxi company applied on our behalf. All the visitors have to park cars at Kami-goto Airport and ride a bus to the church.
This church looked solid due to its facade made of sandstone, but the interior impressed us with pretty atmosphere by its camellia-shaped designs. There was a residence for circuit priests next to the church and a Christian graveyard down to a beach.Written July 15, 2018This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. This is the 3rd church built in this site and a national important cultural property.
Stained glasses were especially beautiful.
It is a pity that this church was excluded from the list of World Heritage due to the repair of its parking site.
I thought this and Kashiragashima church were must-sees in this island.

I was impressed to see a white statue of Jesus from a place across the Aokata Port.
Cherry blossom-shaped stained glasses are lovely. A stoup looked like a shell of a giant clam. I felt it had very calm and peaceful surroundings of a faithful community.

It was good to see this and its reflection on the sea from the other side of a cove.
I felt this very cozy and tidy both indoors and outdoors. When we visited, several friendly community members cleaned the site and the inside of the church.
This had parking lots nearby.
