- matsaxelSingapore, Singapore56 contributionsAbsolutely beautiful mountain hike done in the Summer. Take the cable car and trek up to the cabin. Then continue along down on the other side (connects to the same train service once you are down). Hardly anyone does this second path so there are beautiful flowers everywhere. Perfect for a day trip out of Tokyo if you are fit.Written March 30, 2019This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Natalie CHk23 contributionsPretty nice ski resort with a variety of gentle and a bit steeper slopes to fit different levels. Views from the top was beautiful. Unfortunately there wasn’t much snow this year but Iwappara is among the few that are mostly opened (Gala was closed for 2 days due to strong wind while Yuzawa Kogen had not much snow when we were there). Great to be there for 2 days yet I guess people shall challenge another ski resort afterwards. An absolute surprise was the very nice Italian restaurant La Locanto at the ski resort. Great food. Great atmosphere!Written February 16, 2020This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- Freddy L31 contributionsThe resort is very nice and has a lot options, many inclined slopes too, very suitable for families and expert skiers as well , BUT AT WEEKENDS IS SUUUPER BUSYWritten February 28, 2019This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - steve420Newcastle, Australia175 contributionsGreat for skiers but has some flat sections in some runs which may deter snowboarders.
Actually visited in February 2019 and 2020, but TA only allows 2021 selections, which due to Covid-19 was not possible.
Naeba and Kagura are enjoyable places to visit and ski.Written December 2, 2021This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews. - kormensandiegoManila, Philippines777 contributionsWe only did the snow play during our visit to Yuzawa Kogen as it was late in the day and we didn't want to spend for lift tickets with just a few hours to spare. So instead we went to the snow park at the bottom of the ski resort for some sledding. Aside from sleds, they had those sled bikes which is cute. The tubing wasn't open yet when we visited, too early in the season and not enough snow as they reported.
Will definitely go back to the top when we have more time for our trip next time.Written January 17, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. If you come over from the Dragondola (the gondola from Naeba), then its about a 1.5 hour traverse to the Mitsumata side. on the way back, its much closer at around 30 mins. More advanced riders hit the backcountry from the gates at top. much less people than Naeba.Written January 5, 2019This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Freddy L31 contributionsNaspa is not a big resort, but it have also two stepper slopes that are very nice, and if you go with your family you have a very easy slopes to enjoy the snow.
Very good to practice moguls/bamps as wellWritten February 28, 2019This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. The magic carpet at the bottom of Nakazato is a very nice practice ground for first timers or for the first half day to warm up.Written February 16, 2020This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Asterix135Toronto, Canada208 contributionsThe main benefit to this attraction is the view you get of the Yuzawa valley. There are some nice flower gardens, a couple of goats you can feed, and some areas for kids to play.
There also seems to be a go-cart slide area, but it was closed when we were there.
Nothing amazing, but a decent way to spend a couple of hours in Echigo-yuzawaWritten July 18, 2012This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews. - Asterix135Toronto, Canada208 contributionsThis is a bit out if the way, but is a lovely little hiking area in the Echigo area. There are a couple of hiking trails that can take you anywhere from 45 minutes to all day.
The gorge is rated one of the top three in Japan, and with that hype, was less impressive than I expected. Still, it's quite an impressive falls and gorge. The small lake is also nice, with boats you can rent to row around and feed the fish that follow you.
If you're looking for a picturesque, not-too difficult nature outing, this is a nice place to visit.
Also, on the road in, there's a place where they show you how to make soba or a couple of other foods, which is also worth the stopWritten July 16, 2012This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. But overall we had a great time there, with a little complaint on difficult to find a seat at the restaurant due to too many people there during lunch.Written November 6, 2020This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Mamapickels343 contributionsCrowded on a hot summers day, even mid week, but so understandable. Refreshingly cool river water, exciting pools and falls for the kids to explore, something for all ages. The first stop off the main road, down a steep drive to the car park, a rocky path leads to the river bank shallows. Kids couldn't get past the jump off zone - into deep water, a quick swim to the side, scale the cliff and go again! Further up the road, there is another small car park and a little stall selling cold drinks and hiring gear. This area is flatter with shallower rock pools, followed by small but strong flowing waterfalls and canyon or gorge type swimming spots. Great fun.Written August 18, 2016This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- kormensandiegoManila, Philippines777 contributionsSmall ski resort but excellent for families with small children as well as beginners. It's literally behind the hotel and you simply step out to the snow. There's a snow kids park as well but we didn't have time to go. Instead we had the kids and adults just hang out at the snow area playing and enjoying. The views of the ski slopes were excellent especially during sunset. The snow was falling too that night and it made it extra special. We stayed in the hotel which made it pretty convenient. Would stay longer next time if we had more time.Written January 17, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC.
