Wonderful museum which has been transformed into a modern, fresh experience exploring the area's culture and heritage. Interactive and engaging for families, making use of sustainable upcycled materials. Brilliant!

This monument is in tribute to those from Alyth district who fell in The Great War. The centrepiece of the monument is a large sculpture surmounting the plinth. The sculpture depicts two figures, a small figure of Nike standing in the palm of a much larger female figure, possibly Athena. I’d like to think that the larger of the two is the female personification of Britannia, except that there’s no shield, trident or lion to identify her conclusively. She holds a Roman gladius in her left hand with the point of the sheathed sword resting on the ground. The combination of Neoclassical styling and gladius does make me think it’s more likely to be Athena than Britannia.

I think this monument is fantastic. The simple pedestal contrasts with the elegant classic Neoclassical sculpture of two goddesses reflecting the spirit of both the great and the small. The war memorial in Troon is similar in concept. So while this in Alyth is not unique, both are magnificent.

I walk by this almost everyday and enjoy the views of the water. I can often hear it before I see it, but find it more calming than annoying!

This is one of I think two war memorials in Alyth, this one for the British colonial wars in Southern Africa, while the other is for WWI. The dedication on the monument mentions Diamond Hill, so the memorial must be for an engagement of the Second Boer War that took place in 1900 called Battle of Diamond Hill.

We visited from North Wales by appointment and were met by their very knowledgeable Professional, he has a very well stocked Pro shop, with a good selection for ladies. Lovely course providing a challenge and a good welcome at the clubhouse afterwards. Food and drink very good. Well worth a visit if you are in the area.

We had a day with Dick carving wood as a family for the first time. Our children, aged 8-13, were utterly absorbed and were quiet and busy throughout which meant we were able to get fully engrossed too. Dick is a patient and kind teacher with loads of experience and all the kit you could dream of. We'd love to do it again.

Played this wee nine hole course a few days ago and was extremely impressed. The course was in immaculate condition and the definition of the layout was very pleasing to the eye. Price was fair at £12 however the greens were a little slow. All in all a great place to play a quick nine👍🏻👍🏻

Alyth is a small town 17 miles inland from Dundee with a river running through its town square. A good jumping off point for a holiday, with professional tuition for various arts and crafts, taught with an enthusiasm mixed with lively wit and cameraderie. This particular Course taught by professional willow weaver Jane Wilkinson had even novice students producing excellent baskets of a variety of designs and shapes, using a several sorts of natural materials, within the three days of the Course. A walk in Den Alyth gave us more of an understanding of the types of material which could be used in place of willow, and how to forage for them; students could experience sitting in a coracle on the river; visiting a centre where driftwood was for sale was an inspiration on how even items which might have been seen as unusable could be integrated into baskets or other seemingly plain utilitarian objects, even as art forms. Combined with excellent working lunches of home-made soups, delicious cheeses, breads and fruit, fresh pancakes, and home-made cakes, students were well cared for in all respects. This is a Course for all who wish to explore new ways of using naturally-sourced materials in good company with excellent, friendly and helpful tuition.
