What travelers are saying
- Martina1888Inverness, UK513 contributionsA beautiful park away from bustling Tokyo. The autumn colours were stunning. There are some bridges and even a small zoo. Lots of people taking a stroll or walking their dogs.Written December 7, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Saie LapaziSydney, Australia847 contributionsHighly recommended for a few hours sightseeing & shopping. Also has many restaurant options, especially on the park side of the station. Sun Road has a large selection of shops. Disclaimer - I lived quite near Kichijoji for 2 years.Written February 8, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - WintersummerJSan Jose Metro, Costa Rica73 contributionsThe zoo itself isn't anything special but, a nice place to pass the time, a surprising thing was that there is an statue museum inside.Written June 14, 2019This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - peterfuchs2017Tokyo, Japan41 contributionsPost-war Tokyo was a long slow rebuilding story, as the economy and living standards improved, and more people moved to "my-home in the suburbs" where cars became mandatory, sometimes leaving the old urban markets and Shoten-gai adrift, bereft of customers. But some have thrived as Kichijoji does, eschewing cars for train and bus transport. Right across from both JR and Keio rail stations and the main bus/taxi ranks, Hamonika (i.e. "harmonica") Yokocho, or side-alley, gives you a nifty taste of what it may have been like from the '50s onwards, though the black-market is no longer, there are still quirky cooking-ware shops and stand-up pubs.Written July 10, 2018This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. As the gallery is covered, it is a good place to do "FURARI" which means walking without any purpose in japanese.Written April 18, 2018This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. The trees are especially beautiful in Autumn.Written December 20, 2016This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Feels like I teleported into a magical cat village.
Was there on a weekday around 11am and the place was still fairly empty. More tourists and customers started streaming in around 12pm.
We visited the cafe on the left of entrance and absolutely loved the decor and atmosphere. Food was slightly more expensive but that is to be expected at a themed cafe. We were the first few customers so service was quick, but be prepared to wait for a while for your food and drinks if the cafe is packed.
Store on the second floor (photos not allowed) carry super cute animal themed apparels, accessories, stationeries and household products from various Japanese brands.
There is also a cat cafe in the village which I didn’t visit.Written December 11, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Cost only 100 yen, silent place, so if you are a little bit tired to look around street, this place is nice to rest.Written December 2, 2014This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC.
