This Shrine is a 10 minute walk from Uenoshi Station. We saw it on the map at the station and decided to visit before heading onto Ueno Park. After leaving the station via the car park, go across the road, turn right, and then take the second road on the left. A landmark to ensure that you are on the right road, is a red post with a ninja doll on it (see photo). Walk to the end of the road and the torii gate will come into view.

There are concrete lanterns on either side of the gate. The usual concrete lion dogs guard the main entrance to the shrine. This is a "Tenjin" shrine, and it was interesting to see a cow statue at the entrance. The cow is believed to be a servant of the god Tenjin. It is believed that touching the cow will cure all physical ills. Attached to either side of the main entrance was a area covered in mesh with wooden statues of a seated figure, and on the opposite side when entering the gate, were again lion dogs protecting the entrance.

To the right was the water pavilion. This pavilion was particularly interesting, as the water came out of a dragon figurine. The main shrine, also had a cow figurine to the right outside. A smaller torii gate and shrine, were located to the right of the main shrine. It was quiet and peaceful here, and there were only two other persons visiting the shrine. We had intended to walk through the rear entrance of the park to the Ninja Museum, so this shrine was not far away and an enjoyable stroll.
