We bought the tickets ourselves from the council building off the small square in Vicuna and drove ourselves as we had a camper. They will provide a bus for a little e tea if you need. They do tours in both Spanish and English. Once...More

Went from Vicuña with the transportation from the municipality (7,000 clp for the ticket + 3,000 clp for the transportation). The tour started with an explanation about the stars at a conference room and then outside, seeing in the sky what we talked about in...More

Our visit to Valle del Elquí was unfortunately timed to the full moon. Mamalluca was one of the only observatories open. We went to reserve our tickets at the municipal building in Vicuña on the same day of the tour. We were told there was...More

We enjoyed our late night stargazing experience here. The sky was wonderfully clear and had less light polluted than lower in the valley. The tour involved a presentation and a chance to look through a large electronic telescope and a Newtonian telescope to see some...More

We had a very entertaining and educational evening at this observatory. While it may be relatively small, relatively commercial, for us, it was an eye-opening experience to see the Saturn and Mercury planets through the telescope and to watch a video of the Earth, Milky...More

I liked the place, there's several telescopes to watch the stars (dots in the space) and the planets (we could see Satun). But it's better to take astronomical photographs with your SDLR camera.

Booked a tour in the local Vicuna city office. A quick and efficient process, though they should warn you that you have to pay extra to get a ride up to the observatory. It only amounted to an extra $4 or $5, but it's nice...More
