Walking through the Devil's Throat Cave was an adventure. It was beautiful. Well lit path. Lots of steps up at the end (over 220). The steps and some of the path through the cave are slippery. Definitely worth adding to your itinerary.
Note: when we first arrived in the parking lot and the entrance to the cave, there was a long line of people waiting to enter. We were first told that only 10 people were allowed in each hour. That was not true. We were allowed to enter as soon as we paid. There was a long line of tourists winding their way through the cave.

This was a scary adventure. We ventured down these caves by ourselves. No tour was offered. We were told there were 220 steps but not how steep (like a ladder). This is not for the faint hearted nor children. However whilst steps were scary it wasn't slippery.

This is an awesome experience. The sound of the water crashing starts almost as soon as you start walking through the tunnel. The walk along the way into a huge cavern is great.
The waterfall is loud and makes for great short videos.
The reason I have only given 4/5 is that the cave and arrangement of the steps is INCREDIBLY DANGEROUS!
We were warned to be fair that the numerous seemingly endless steps were challenging. We were also told we could turn around and go back the way we came. If you do this you won't see the waterfall.
I am never normally afraid, but those steps were crazy.
You need real stamina to climb them and nerves of steel. They were very narrow, slippery with mud and scary. One slip is going to leave you injured or dead.
I would not take younger children in there personally.

This was supposed to be one of the highlights of a visit to Trigrad Gorge. It didn't live up to that billing I'm afraid. We were the only English people there and the tour was conducted in Bulgarian which is fine and we were given a leaflet to describe the history, geology and legend of the cave. The strange part is that we were told that wee didn't have to wait with the tour and could head off alone into the cave at our own speed. As it turned out it was fine but there were some really steep steps in there which were wet and quite frankly potentially dangerous. There is no way you'd be allowed to do this on your own in most western countries! The highlight was supposed to be where the water rushes underground into the 'throat' of the cavern but although we could hear the water there was very little to see. Not really worth the effort.

The cave is spectatular, however, it is easily accessible even if you are visiting with young children. The area is beautiful and there are plenty of opportunities for hiking, relaxing or dining in the area.

The road to The Cave Devil's throat is unforgettable - very narrow, lying like a snake in between the rocks. The threes look like glued on them. One of the most magical places in Rodopa mountains in Bulgaria. The cave is big and easy to walk. The most important part of our visit, were the people we met. There is a little Bulgarian style fast food place. So, no burgers. You can buy the most amazing Honey, cheese and the real Mursalski tea- the magical tea only from this part of the world. I really recommend this trip!

Well, the most important is to know the mysterious details about the river passing the cave before to go there. There is not a legend, nor a Fair Tale. The truth is more impressive!

Had a great experience. Went there with two small children (5, 6). They walked the entire route without a problem, and were so excited by the view they didn't complain once about all the stairs! The stairs in the end of the route are difficult but not dangerous.

Bonjour,
Je souhaiterais visiter les "devil's throat" cet été.
Vu que l'endroit est quelque peu excentré, je me demandais dans quel coin vaut-il mieux loger ?
Combien de temps pour faire la visite ?
d'avance merci.

Yes sure ,you may park your car and go in the cave .But they will not let you go inside alone. There are some hours of visiting and they wait that a group of people is gathered before entering. And there is always a guide who is accompanying the visitors.
