Dead sea, Jabal Nebo and Madaba
Even though I had to leave Amman in the afternoon, I wanted to see Dead sea, Jabal Nebo and Madaba. Mr. Waleed Hassan kindly picked me up at hotel early in the morning, and drove me to all these places and the airport. Everywhere was wonderful and I appreciated his kindness. His phone number is 00962-799952938.

    A must do :-)
Part of an overall trip we had half of the day at the Dead Sea. Need at least a few hours to really enjoy. Put the mud in before you are wet and be really careful about getting the water in your eyes it stings like you won’t believe. A really fun experience

    Salt sea has restorative properties
The Dead Sea is the saltiest body of water on earth. Travelers have visited the Dead Sea for centuries to make use of the restorative properties of the water. There are a number of resorts on the shores of the Dead Sea, on the Western (Israeli) side and the Eastern (Jordanian) side. If you go swimming, you can take your time, but remember to take care in the water.

Dead Sea and salty rocks experience
If you’re saving money in Jordan, go to the public beach or away from the hotels. There’s a lot of spots other than this one (which is also free). I hired a local and drove me to the free beach as well which is also near the hot springs that is accessible after swimming into the Dead Sea. Put some mud on your skin, and rinse it all off. After Dead Sea, take a small stop over to the Salty Rocks. It has a great view to take a photo. It has a steep hike going down which I didn’t attempt to. Being able to take a photo from above is enough.

    Great Experience
We were staying at the Holiday Inn Resort for a couple of nights & so had direct access to the Dead Sea. We went after breakfast before it got too hot. We had remembered to bring water shoes as it's a bit pebbly to enter. Once in it's a surreal experience, the water was lovely, warm & gloopy. We just floated on our back enjoying the views across to Israel. When we got out we slavered on some mud. It's probably best not to wear your best swimsuit & we were advised to remove all jewellery. We then sat in the sun for awhile to allow the mud to do some good & then showered off. There are shaded sun loungers, towels & cold water all available so we relaxed there for awhile before deciding to repeat the process. All in all it was great fun.

    Salt
One of the lowest recorded area in the world. A 30 minute drive from the capital Amman, Jordan. Many stars hotel all the beach way, few places left for public. Definitely it was a great experience to reach to this area of the world, put your legs in a very salty water, swim if you can but don’t open your eyes, easily float and read newspapers, because you can’t dive. We stopped in a place where they arrange tables for renting for JD 2.5 per hour, so you can bring your stuff and enjoy the sunset.

The jett bus company in Jordan arrange day trips from Amman to the dead sea. On the way there we stopped at the PALM BAZAR where they were selling dead sea products. At the bazar i was told i wasn’t going to find these products anywhere else so kinda under pressure i bought some sea mud and salts which i found out later that i could find yhe same brand everywhere in jordan and at this Bazar they were selling those products for tripple the price. Absolutely shameless. Not to be trusted

Admitted, it wasn't the best weather (moisty air) so not the best views, but the awful and totally overpriced hotels in combination with the retracting shorelines saddened me. Also it seems to be forbidden to live in that region, so once you've passed the resorts on the north side the road becomes extremely.
Classic place of course, but I don't expect to return.

While in Jordan, floating in the dead sea is a must-do and one of the most rewarding experiences.

There are various areas along the coastline where tourists can have a quick dip in the water. Though it is a public beach, the dead sea is not 100% free. To access the beach on the northern side, tourists will need to pay to enter. There are a few viewpoints on the southern side (after Ma'in Hot Springs) which are free. These areas are less touristy and the views are more scenic, especially the salt formation.

The Dead Sea is definitely very beautiful with crystal clear turquoise water but the tourists and locals have been leaving behind a lot of rubbish on the shoreline which spoils the beauty.

While at the beach, you can also see the water is slowly retrieving away from the shoreline due to climate change.

Hopefully, the Jordanian Govt will implement certain measures to preserve this beautiful piece of gem and also ensure that tourists take responsibility to keep the place clean.

My husband and I took a tour from our hotel in the Old city of Jerusalem to The Dead Sea, Ein Gedi and the Masada. It was a full day but well wort it. These sites are all located in fairly close proximity about an hour plus outside of Bethlehem. At the Dead Sea there are souvenir shops, two cafes and change rooms. If you have valuables you can hire a locker. There are towels for hire if you haven’t bought your own (or pull one out of the used baskets around the place). After your “float” head up the hill to the cafe/bar up the hill and enjoy a meal or snack and a long deserved beer. Great spot to sit and enjoy the view (more change rooms are located here as well).
The water temperature in March was warm and very comfortable. The outdoor temperature was also warm, so layers are the best dress choice, particularly as Tel Aviv was cooler than the desert area where the Dead Sea is located.

I have always wanted to visit the Dead Sea to experience what I have only read about in books. The salinity is so dense that it lifted me off of my feet and put me floating on my back. The natural buoyancy takes effect upon entering the water and it is amazing. The sea’s bottom is rough and may cut so wear water shoes. Avoid shaving prior to visiting, getting water in your eyes, face, or mouth because it stings!
The mud has therapeutic qualities and used in spa treatments in the many shoreline hotels so do not pay extra, instead collect from the beach yourself. After getting out of the water rinse thoroughly. My experience at the Dead Sea was more than I could have imagined or dreamed of. Floating in the Dead Sea is worth your travels to Jordan so do not miss out. Seaside resorts will charge beach access fees so if your only there for a few hours travel past and you will find free beaches.

The Dead Sea is definitely one of those bucket list visits. Floating is a definite must and such a crazy sensation. I visited in December and while the air temperature was mild but not hot, the water felt good. Make sure you don't shave for at least a day before going in the water and it is best to have water shoes as the beaches are pebbly.

The dead sea is at the lowest point on Earth and is actually a very vast salt water lake.
We were taken to the Dead sea from the Ramada resort in Jordan. You have the option to swim in the Dead sea from the hotel's beach and have lunch at the hotel as a day trip or I guess you can stay at the hotel and use the facilities. Ours was a day trip without lunch It is a 45 minutes drive from Amman.
The hotel provides you with beach towels and has a shuttle which leaves every half an hour to take you to the shores of the Dead Sea. Don't try and walk;the sun is a killer even in winter. My advice is to wear flip flops on the sandy beach.
The Ramada hotel beach had beach umbrellas for shade, pool loungers and chairs and a changing area and shower.
The Dead sea is famous for its mineral laden mud which is good for the skin. It is freely available in clay pots on the beach and people slather it onto their faces and bodies before washing it off in the dead sea or showering.
The sea itself is famous for its salinity and buoyancy. It is said that you will float in its waters even if you don't know how to swim. We didn't want to swim as we had to catch a flight the same day and didn't want to carry wet clothes in our luggage but we did touch the water and it felt extremely slimy which I wasn't expecting.
The Dead sea is surrounded by rocky hills and of course the beach. The scenery is quite stark but pretty at the same time.
It is worth visiting once, especially if you are a beach person but I wouldn't say it's a must see.

At 1,412 ft (430 m) below sea level, the Dead Sea is the lowest place on earth. Its shores are shared by Israel, the West Bank, and Jordan. It’s not really a sea, but a lake with over 30% salt content. Everyone knows the Dead Sea climate and mud is renowned for its health benefits, and of course famous for floating! But you may not know the views are gorgeous, including spectacular sunsets. Sadly, the Dead Sea is rapidly receding at the rate of about 4 feet per year. This is readily evident along the Jordanian shore, where salt deposits left behind by falling water levels are visible.

The free spots are all full of glass and other litter. Locals try to give you a mud massage and then try to charge you 20 JOD per person afterwards. The floating is fun but not that special, and you can only stay in for fifteen minutes or so, by which time any small wounds are hurting.

… I will need to go back to Jordan and find it. This is truly a magical source of wellness. I happened to go for a dip just before closing time, then I hung around to see the sun go down on the deserted beach… I would trade all the fancy spas in this world with a well deserved twenty minutes immersion in the Dead Sea waters. Glorious!
