Even though I had to leave Amman in the afternoon, I wanted to see Dead sea, Jabal Nebo and Madaba. Mr. Waleed Hassan kindly picked me up at hotel early in the morning, and drove me to all these places and the airport. Everywhere was wonderful and I appreciated his kindness. Part of an overall trip we had half of the day at the Dead Sea. Need at least a few hours to really enjoy. Put the mud in before you are wet and be really careful about getting the water in your eyes it stings like you won’t believe. A really fun experience

The Dead Sea is the saltiest body of water on earth. Travelers have visited the Dead Sea for centuries to make use of the restorative properties of the water. There are a number of resorts on the shores of the Dead Sea, on the Western (Israeli) side and the Eastern (Jordanian) side. If you go swimming, you can take your time, but remember to take care in the water.

If you’re saving money in Jordan, go to the public beach or away from the hotels. There’s a lot of spots other than this one (which is also free). I hired a local and drove me to the free beach as well which is also near the hot springs that is accessible after swimming into the Dead Sea. Put some mud on your skin, and rinse it all off. After Dead Sea, take a small stop over to the Salty Rocks. It has a great view to take a photo. It has a steep hike going down which I didn’t attempt to. Being able to take a photo from above is enough.

We were staying at the Holiday Inn Resort for a couple of nights & so had direct access to the Dead Sea. We went after breakfast before it got too hot. We had remembered to bring water shoes as it's a bit pebbly to enter. Once in it's a surreal experience, the water was lovely, warm & gloopy. We just floated on our back enjoying the views across to Israel. When we got out we slavered on some mud. It's probably best not to wear your best swimsuit & we were advised to remove all jewellery. We then sat in the sun for awhile to allow the mud to do some good & then showered off. There are shaded sun loungers, towels & cold water all available so we relaxed there for awhile before deciding to repeat the process. All in all it was great fun.

One of the lowest recorded area in the world. A 30 minute drive from the capital Amman, Jordan. Many stars hotel all the beach way, few places left for public. Definitely it was a great experience to reach to this area of the world, put your legs in a very salty water, swim if you can but don’t open your eyes, easily float and read newspapers, because you can’t dive. We stopped in a place where they arrange tables for renting for JD 2.5 per hour, so you can bring your stuff and enjoy the sunset.
