Contains a fasinating recreation of what the byodo-in looked like inside when built.There are also a collection of the smaller statues which were also in the byodo-in-if you are intrested in Japanese scupture they are a must see.

A bit out of the normal tourist route Byodo-in has a delightful garden and museum. The museum is modern and displays the art with excellent lighting,

The museum is a very well organized description of life in Japan 1000 years ago. Many (but not all) of the exhibit components have at least some English descriptions if you do not speak Japanese. Great restoration work!

Stunning display of buddha, bodisatvas, and interior replica of Phoenix Hall - you can actually see what it looked like when first built. One of the best places visited in Kyoto area.

This museum is included in the ticket. Most of the displays have descriptions in English and Chinese. Worth to visit if you’re visiting Byodo-in

We visited here after looking at the temple. The building is a must see for contemporary concrete building lovers. The displays are very beautiful, consisting of fixtures and carvings from the temple. No photography allowed inside the building.

Absolutely worth visiting! Give the Phoenix Hall tour a miss. The Buddhist temple bell, a pair of phoenix, 26 statues of small Buddhas on the clouds, eleven-headed Kannon and other Buddhist statues are exhibited in the museum. You can see recreated colors of door paintings...More
