Hermitage founded in 804 AD

A visit to the Abbey is a quiet, peaceful walk back in time. One's pace seems to automatically slow.

If you get the chance whilst staying in the Beziers / Montpellier area then check out the little village of St Guilhem-le-Désert. It has a stream running through the village and is great to dip your toes in (it’s very cold but refreshing). The village...More

The abbaye is attached to a small quaint church. High profile concerts are organized there from time to time. Check the organ. The cloister is... a half the rest of the stones were taken to the US. Overall, worth a visit if you are in...More

A small yet beautifully serene Abbey. The town gets busy in the summer and was so on Saturday, but free bus into town definitely worthwhile, as parking is expensive and the roads are busy in season. It’s dark and cool, not much to see, but...More

Peaceful, beautiful, tranquil, historic...just gorgeous! Absolutely loved our day trip here. Amazing how quiet it was in the abbey despite being right on the busy main village square. Absolutely worth a trip!

Walking into the church I was not sure what to expect. What we experienced was a beautiful old building, largely undecorated inside, so you can appreciate the building itself. Light streams into the body of the building through high windows, giving it a gentle illumination,...More

It’s very small, more like half an hour trip unless you like sitting and enjoying the peacefulness in which case you can spread the time more.
