- HikingrocksPort Elgin, Canada65 contributionsExactly what I was hoping for!As a nature lover I was excited to participate in this half day guided hike of Arikok National Park. The bus picked us up from our hotel and when we arrived at the park, Josh took over leading us on a very interesting and scenic hike. The trails are quite “up and down” and I would consider it “moderate” in difficulty level. The trails are all nicely laid out with flagstone but watch out for cactus branches laying about that can stick up through your running shoe! And, as expected, it was quite hot so make sure you wear a hat and sunblock. Josh provided us with water, which was greatly appreciated. I wore insect repellent as well but I didn’t hear any complaints about bugs from the others. The views were quite spectacular! We could see the outlying desert-like scenery with over one-hundred year old cacti. Many cacti were in flower as was some of the Aloe Vera…just a wonderful display of color! We saw indigenous rock drawings that are thankfully protected by a metal fence. Josh was very knowledgeable about the park answering every one of our curious questions! He has lived in Aruba for a good part of his life (originally from the Netherlands I believe) so was very knowledgeable about the history of Aruba, another interest to many of us. Overall, this adventure was well worth it! A half day was a perfect amount of time and Josh was the perfect guide!Visited March 2023Traveled soloWritten April 13, 2023
- J EAustin, Texas2,813 contributionsa wonderful day of natureWe rented a small Jimmy from a rental company and were able to do the park on our own. It was a great day. I am so glad we experienced this place. I was a tad worried about heading the natural pool but my husband was a great driver. Do wear your wrist band to the pool. Some people had to go back to their cars to get their wrist bands. The caves are cool. At one a park employee gave us a quick tour of the markings and history. We enjoyed the goats in the park. It cost us $15 a per person to enter the park. We spent the entire day and could have spent another day there.Visited April 2023Traveled as a coupleWritten May 22, 2023
- Kara M2 contributionsMost beautiful area in ArubaOne of the most beautiful areas to visit and explore the history of Aruba. Heads up if you are traveling the paved road l, I suggest a vehicle that is not low to the road. I highly recommend the non paved road but you will need a jeep style vehicle. This area should stay forever wild.Visited July 2023Traveled with familyWritten August 3, 2023
- kspFitchburg, Wisconsin8 contributionsGorgeous hike, great way to get some exercise in Aruba! My husband and I went on a hike, the Cunucu loop. The visitor’s center is beautiful. The staff was very professional and recommended the Cunuculoop, about 3.1 miles. We saw lizards and wild goats, and we loved the hike. It was not too easy and not too hard. It provided us with some good exercise. We are in our 60s and Ike more than we hike. Recommend sunscreen with high SPF. We wore 50, and a hat is highly recommended, along with water and your phone. We sat outside on the terrace afterwards and enjoyed an ice cold smoothie. I recommend the pineapple. The best. The staff was so friendly. They even gave us two shot glasses as souvenirs. Adorable people. Beautiful hike. Follow it up with a refreshing swim at Baby Beach! Take care to take a break from the sun, though. Water, plenty of water.Visited August 2023Traveled as a coupleWritten August 8, 2023
- Will JHolt, United Kingdom129 contributionsAwesome experience, Rambo was brilliant!5/5 experience here! The visitors centre was informative and the price to enter the national park was well worth the experience. At the caves our guide Rambo was amazing, answering every question and teaching us so much about the local environment- we loved him! Well worth a recommendation!Visited October 2023Traveled with familyWritten October 8, 2023
- Previa1994Chicago, Illinois6,378 contributionsImpressive National ParkArikok National Park is a must visit attraction if one is visiting Aruba. The national park can be fully enjoyed on a drive if one is not much into hiking or other physical activities. There are a variety of unique geologic features such as dy sea caves, beaches, mountains, water holes, etc. We spent almost a whole day driving around and stopping at these main features starting off with a visit to the visitor center where we paid the admission fees and got the wristbands for entry into the park. We ended the day where we got to drive next to huge wind turbines. One unique feature was getting fish manicures at the Fontein Cave area. Going on guided jeep tours and ATVs appears to be a popular activity in the park. In sum, Arkok is an impressive national park, and can be easily managed if one has a car.Visited February 2023Traveled with friendsWritten December 27, 2023

- Cathy EWorthing, United Kingdom30 contributionsLovely scenery from cactus to beachesNational park filled with natural flora and fauna. Cactus were in flower. We saw lots of pretty birds and iguanas. We had a Kia picanto hire car. There were lots of gravel roads but the car managed them when we took it slow. High view points gave some lovely views across the island. In addition, we saw some beautiful coastal scenery with rough and rugged bays, landscape and 2 lots of caves on the seashore. There was a walking rail to follow at Cunacu. This was well worth taking and is a circular route. However it took us longer than we thought (about an hour) so do wear a hat and take water. The path is paved with a few steps here and there so easy to navigate - just hot!Visited March 2024Traveled as a coupleWritten March 4, 2024
- Mike SNova Scotia, Canada29 contributionsYou have to Visit the ParkThis was one of our best experiences on the island. The road is a real challenge but as long as you’re staying on the paved (main road) a regular car is fine, just GO SLOW. Both of the cave sights were the best. The bats on the ceiling were interesting to see. The views of the north coast are breathtaking. The park guides were just excellent and seemed excited to impart their knowledge on us. You can even sit down in the stream and get a pedicure from live fish. If you’re the least bit interested in the nature of the island you should check out the park.Visited March 2024Traveled as a coupleWritten March 4, 2024

This national park is unique. There are many wild goats and donkeys throughout the park. There are two caves you can explore on your own. The sites of the ocean are beautiful we were told not to go to the pool due to the roads and slippery steps to get in.

Had a great time at the park! We had a compact car so plan to return on a tour. We loved the combination of the coastline and the arid park beauty.

Can I visit this park in a UTV rental without a tour?

I had heard that UTVs were banned due to the damage they were causing from friends visiting early this year. I would check with the park before booking an outside UTV rental.

How long does it take to get there from the harbour and how much time did you spend in the park

The island is small as the other responder indicated - so if you are downtown by the boat harbors, I would estimate 30 minutes at most. You will need a 4 wheel drive Jeep/truck/ATV to really experience the park. We spent about 4 hours to all day depending on what you want to do. The drive to the Natural Pool is about 40 minutes because the roads are so rough you must go slow, but to me well worth the time spent. The southern/eastern side of the park has the caves, Dos Playas, and Boca Prins. All are pretty spectacular to see. We spent probably about 6 hours in the park.

I would rent a jeep so you can fully explore the whole park without concern.
I would agree that you need to budget a day so you can explore and see. That way there is no rushing around. The enterance where you go into to pay is full of information to read and there are walking paths and locations to drive into. Worth the time, a different landscape than home. They have a map on thier web site to help you plan.
If you have spare time check out the donkey sanctuary.
Waze app worked well guiding us around.

Could you offer more details about booking the ranger tour in the Aruba National Park - exactly what we want to do. I don't see it on the national park website and could only find private tours with high prices and too many extras. The tour itself is what we want. Thanks for your time!
