PN Gorongosa, and parks such as Zambia's Luangwa, offer the game viewing experience of Kruger or Serengeti but with a far less sanitised and crowded ambience. Make the effort to get here, and you will have experienced Africa.

Not a bad place to visit once you already are in Mozambique. If you are not coming from Beira or Chimoio, it is a long and strenuous drive - road conditions are quite bad in certain areas along the way. Gorongosa is still far from...More

Please see my review of Gorongosa Montebello Lodge. The highlight of my stay was viewing the many arms of the restoration project. The philosophy of the Restoration Project is that to restore the Park to its pre civil war splendor, not only the animals must...More

Not to compare with others but at a good start. Game drives are a lot of fun and each one, the morning and the afternoon, have their own attractions.

You'll read in guides that the wildlife in this park is not what it used to be and that may be true, but life is bouncing back and Mozambique and the Carr Foundation are doing an amazing job. They need tourist support. You'll see lots...More

The positives We spent three days at the park after it was recommended by a fellow overlander. We were fortunate to see lions on two occasions, elephants, varied bird life and numerous impala, waterbuck and wart hogs. The game drives were interesting and the guides...More

Gorongosa is one of the most beautiful parks I have been to. It offers an amazing diversity of landscapes. First time we did a game drive between palm trees. The vegetation makes you work to find all there is to see and the guides are...More

Gorongosa National Park is recovering after a long period of civil war. And it does so in a spectacular way. In this park is not so easy to meet animals like in Kruger or Hwange, but these meetings are much more exciting. It's beautiful to...More
