Nice course but bring your own lunch

The course layout is very good but the drainage is terrible. We made the turn shortly after noon and my partner and I decided to get a beer and sausage . They only had one sausage left, no hot dogs, no sandwiches and this was on a Saturday! What course has no food prepared for a weekend?
Save your money and golf Lively.

Unless you get a deal, do not play here. For what is supposed to be a top notch golf destination, the golf needs plenty of work. The day I played, the greens were awful. Slow and very bumpy. The traps have not been tended to in years. This course was amazing when it first opened but has fallen from grace. And sometimes its the little things like no ice in the coolers. If you want ice, good luck. The ball washers have no water. The divot fillers have no sand. The driving range has new balls but the deck itself needs tending to as well. There are much nicer courses in the area for a much more reasonable fee. Its a course that wants to be known as a premier golf destination, but does nothing to earn it. Its too bad because the lay-out is amazing.

Nice shape!

I payed the course last weekend with my wife. The course wintered well and it was in nice shape for the spring we’ve had in Northern Ontario. Some of the bunkers were kind of washed out from the rain but that is understandable considering it poured the day before.

Played it last summer, was in pretty solid shape!

People obviously don't know what it takes to maintain a golf course! Especially in Sudbury! The course was in very nice shape in early August.

In decline

Used Under par for a 2 for 1. This is not worth $90.00 per round. Range ball machine wouldn't dispense balls. Nobody working at 9:15am on a Wednesday. No coffee or employees in kitchen. The only guy working was the starter. Golf course was in good shape considering the dry summer so far. Bunkers need work. They were full of stones. We saw the beverage cart once on the 15th hole. Good deal for half price, certainly not worth playing at $90.00.

Needs to improve
Aug 2018 • Friends
This is a former winner of top new course. Since then it has gone downhill. It is a course that wants to be a top end course yet the money is not being spent to have that reputation. The improvements range from bunkets that have rocks in them, tee decks that need tending to, divot holes in the fairways that need looking after. Then there is the service area. The poor starter was also taking care of the back shop. The halfway house was not open. There was no beverage cart and it was 30 plus degrees. The hazards had no lines. The carts had no sand to refill divot holes and no ice in the coolers. If it wants the title of a premier course, it needs to do the work.

Not What is Used to be
Sep 2016 • Friends
this is the third time that i have played timberwolf golf course this year. i play it for variety in the sudbury area, and not as a treat as it used to be. this course that was once a regional attraction for golfers is now average at best. this is due entirely to a lack of maintenance. the bunkers need attention and rebuilding and the trails on the course are in terrible repair. this course is not worth the fees that they charge to play it. the bones are still there - good tee boxes, decent greens and the staff that are there to regulate play. there are better courses in the area within the region that are worth the drive to play when there are special rates. look to huron pines in blind river and the parry sound course. these are much better than timberwolf.

The course isn't as good as it used to be, with that being said, I played at some of the top courses in Ontario and they all seem to have taken a bit of a hit this year, with the exceptionally hot summer that we have had. Still a pretty good course and among the top courses in Sudbury.

Disappointed
Jul 2016 • Friends
For what is supposed to be a championship premier golf course, there is much to improve on. The greens were of particular disappointment. While #3 was the worst, many others were spotty at best. The fairways were not much better. When compared to many other courses of the same price point, Timberwolf falls way short. It is a nice track and challenging but the condition was disappointing.

Sort of disappointing

I had never played this course but my hubby had. We played with another couple who play here a few times a year (they regularly play at Lively). I'd heard lots of things about this being a premium course. I was a wee bit disappointed ... for me it's a good course but not premium, some repairs underway on a few holes, tons of divots, greens were OK but slow compared to where we usually play. We teed off at 10:00 on a Sunday and the pace of play was good (just over 4 hours) and we only waited on a couple of holes to tee off. Our friends told us it's been in better shape in years past.
